Thumbs Down
Having trouble finding the locking point for the crank under the starter, all I know is its a hole under the starter and Hayes just tells you to lock the fly. Can anyone get a picture or a good of what it looks like.

As I turn the wheel I had a look under, can see fly moving and has a square hole at 12 and 6

You can do it without removing the starter but probably not if its the first you've done. You don't need to remove wires though, just push the starter back out of the way.

Paint roller for the win!!

Its a round 8mm hole just above a block casting lip.

You wont be able to ser the flywheel moving through it from any angle with engine in the car!

This is what google images threw up:

Its a d8a block that but gives you the idea

As piggy said, and ive said many times..

Get a paint roller, rip the roller and plastic bits off bend the longest bit by handle slightly and itll go straight in without taking starter off lol

Have you got a little mirror? Should be able to see and guide it in, paint roller isnt a 100% tight fit so should FIND the hole lol

Where is the hole in relation to the third starter motor bolt, I've moved the wires and can see down the back of it, can see the end of the rear bolt is it near that?
Heading into town now so I can get a roller lol

Right back from town no rollers :/ what size are the hex? Gunna ask a local garage if they have any tools I can borrow.

Failing that can I lock it any other way?

Doing cambelt. Locked the crank off now, but both the cam and pump pulleys don't line up with there holes. Can I lock the bottom and move the other pulleys independently?

No, don't move the pulleys! Confused

It's not locked in the right place if the cam and pump pulleys are out. There are 2 holes in the fly iirc, sounds like you've locked the wrong one.

Ah ok, didn't realise that!

In that case, yes, you'll have to move them independently...

My belt has possibly slipped that's the reason for replacement I have rotated the engine 4 times everytime the lock fot cam is almost there, and then it goes past ever so slightly and click. It's locked on the crank. The bolt to lock of the cam.sits just slightly past the lock. The edge of the bolt touches the edge of the bolt hole. It's the same with the pump exactly the same amount past the pump locking hole

Ahhhh okay so move them once the belt is off. Can I move them slightly anti clockwise or do I have to do a full rotation?
