Thank you very much, I'm 19 so insurance is a pain in the ass. But I just want to keep it standard to be honest, I may lower it slightly but I like the clean original look. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do to it?

Lowering is always good... Then you could freshen it up with crystal headlights, phase 3 bumpers, side skirts, spoiler, either phase 3 rub strips or colour code the current ones, Xsara mist jets... Keep it fairly subtle and you'll be on to a winner. Make sure you check how much it would cost with your insurance company first, though Smile.

Yeah I'm thinking of colour coding the rub strips, and yeah haha I think after my first year it will be cheaper to do more stuff to it

Who are you with? Some companies are better than others and you may be surprised. But usually the companies that are cheapest when you start out aren't the best for modifications, unfortunately.

Admiral will probably be best bet tbh! Was £900 fc when I had my 1.4 306 cheapest place by far! Always makes it cheaper to pay In full if you can.

I will have to check them out, on comparison sites I'm getting quotes of £1900 as I've only just passed my test

I used to find the cheapest of comparison sites then go to them direct used to saved loads cutting out the middle man.

Is say Brent acre or green light but you have to be 21.

Is mine a phase 2 or phase 3? It's an S reg 1999 1.4

It's a phase 2, although it doesn't appear to have a seal around the rear screen or trim along the bottom of the boot lid... So it's most likely a Parts Bin Special or "phase 2.5". However, if it does and it's just my eyes, it's just a phase 2. (Although, technically, either way it's a phase 2...).

Guys I need some help. I just went to start my car and it wouldn't start, I know battery was a little iffy so I think this is what wrong but I would like a second opinion.

First turn of the key: Battery light comes on.

Second turn of the key: the other lights come on

Third turn: it turns over once or twice then gives up.

Does anyone know if there is a major issue or is it just the battery?

Sounds like a flat battery too me fella, suprising how much energy it takes to start a car! probably just needs jump starting and then leave it running for an hour or two (keeping an eye on the temperature of course) just to charge it up.

Thanks man! I may get a volt meter on it to see if it's okay. I can get a battery cheap in work so if it comes to it I can replace it.

So the lights that are being displayed is standard I guess when the ignitions on? When I started it yesterday no lights were on, so I'm guessing they are on just because the ignition is on and not running?

Yes those are just the standard ignition lights. volt meter isnt a sure way of telling unless you can still watch it when you attempt to start it by turning the key? if it is the battery you will see the volts drop too zero as you try and start the car.
