stereo half powering
#1
Hi all just a quick question? I have a aftermarket stereo in my 306 it wont power up properly but will eject cd and if i press a button the time comes up. Any ideas what the problem is. It worked fine and ive tried another stereo that works and same problem. The only noise i get is the relys clicking alot

Sounds like a bad earth or other dodgy connection ... :-)

So i assume it doesn't turn on with the car but you can turn it on manually wether the cars running or not? If so, your shunt fuse is in the wrong position.
If it just doesn't turn on at all but still ejects CDs. Sounds like your switched live isn't connected properly.

Is the memory wire the only one getting power then (allowing it to eject cd's)and It sounds to me the switched live isn't getting power atall.

No fuses checked yet and engine fan wont kick in unless connected to battery or live so wired to stereo to turn on

That just sounds like a huge bodge to me. I do hope you have just wired the relay activate cable to it and not the actual fan power cable otherwise it wouldn't surprise me if you have melted all the cabling!

But yes that sounds like a massive bodge. Of all the places to get a live you got it from the stereo Sad
