stereo half powering - sillywotsit1993 - 17-01-2014 Hi all just a quick question? I have a aftermarket stereo in my 306 it wont power up properly but will eject cd and if i press a button the time comes up. Any ideas what the problem is. It worked fine and ive tried another stereo that works and same problem. The only noise i get is the relys clicking alot RE: stereo half powering - shaverspeedengineering - 17-01-2014 Sounds like a bad earth or other dodgy connection ... :-) RE: stereo half powering - Niall - 17-01-2014 So i assume it doesn't turn on with the car but you can turn it on manually wether the cars running or not? If so, your shunt fuse is in the wrong position. If it just doesn't turn on at all but still ejects CDs. Sounds like your switched live isn't connected properly. RE: stereo half powering - sillywotsit1993 - 17-01-2014 It wont power on at all. I did have the fan hooked to it. Could i usb burnt out a wire RE: stereo half powering - aggyj17 - 17-01-2014 Is the memory wire the only one getting power then (allowing it to eject cd's)and It sounds to me the switched live isn't getting power atall. RE: stereo half powering - sillywotsit1993 - 17-01-2014 Sounds about right ive no way of testing which have power bar putting my tounge on it and hoping for the best haha RE: stereo half powering - Niall - 17-01-2014 The fan hooked on it? What fan? Have you checked your fuses? RE: stereo half powering - sillywotsit1993 - 17-01-2014 No fuses checked yet and engine fan wont kick in unless connected to battery or live so wired to stereo to turn on RE: stereo half powering - Niall - 17-01-2014 That just sounds like a huge bodge to me. I do hope you have just wired the relay activate cable to it and not the actual fan power cable otherwise it wouldn't surprise me if you have melted all the cabling! The engine fan post was posted while I was writing mine! RE: stereo half powering - Eeyore - 17-01-2014 But yes that sounds like a massive bodge. Of all the places to get a live you got it from the stereo ![]() Re: stereo half powering - sillywotsit1993 - 21-01-2014 Turns out it was a fuse and also found out theres more fuses blown under the bonnet RE: stereo half powering - Piggy - 21-01-2014 (21-01-2014, 08:07 PM)sillywotsit1993 Wrote: Turns out it was a fuse and also found out theres more fuses blown under the bonnet No surprises there with that bodge Re: stereo half powering - sillywotsit1993 - 21-01-2014 Its all repaired now no problems it was a temp fix to move it |
