Lynx ones are supposed to be better made although I've never seen a pug1off one up close so can't really comment.
Lynx will also probably do you a better price if you ask. They did for me Smile

BBM make the pug1off pulleys, but you can only buy from pug1off.

Rich W does do a small discount afaik.

Pugracing do them too.

I wouldn't use either. Bye bye oil pump chain if you rev too high....

Interesting to read that as I have never had issues with mine and that rev's to 8500 rpm currently and the pulley does not come in contact with the pump chain, thats behind the end alloy cover

dont see how the pully affects the chain other than the early engines with the friction drive sprocket
then only a loose bolt would

Less harmonic damping of the crank.

Miles, interesting. I've found two things by lightening the crank damping too much by use of very light pulleys and light flywheels.

1) snapped oil pump chains by vibration / surging
2) poor rpm pickup on the flywheel due to "jitter" on the crank revolution. I.e. Odd crank acceleration / deceleration characteristics.

Chris, it kept happening I suspect it can be made worse with no power steering pump etc.

Put a stock pulley back on and it's sorted...

if its happened to the same engine I would imagine its rather more than just a pulley at fault.

Interesting one, To be fair, the entire point of the pulley stock how it is is to prevent such harmonics / vibrations..but ive NEVER heard of people having real world issues with it on cars...

Its a big problem with tractors, aftermarket pulleys are fitted, and tractors simply snap cranks, have seen it time and time again...so interesting thoughts.

It's not as immediate an effect with cars, as they tend to only spend brief periods in the problem frequencies, as the rpms are always changing. Much more readily show with working engines which tend to be running within a few hundred rpm all the time.

Still, the damage it can eventually cause is undeniable. But then most car engines that are being tweaked probably won't be expected to do another 50k miles anyway.
