Roofskin
#1
Right, I know the principles behind it. Windscreen out, drill the spot welds, but has anyone here actually removed and refitted a roof skin?

Want to put a non-sunroof one in mine, but am in two minds...

would it not be easier to 1) live with the sunroof
2) weld in a plate and fill/paint!?
3) fit a carbon roof! (WIN!)

Well a carbon roof is what I was thinking. I have got a plate in place already, its the same as Jonny B's, just stuck on top of the roofskin.

I can't for love nor money find the business card of the bloke I was talking to about carbon roof skins Sad

this is the closest I could find...

I dont remember Hovis having carbon on his rally?

Maybe he did ?

After a snoop around NUR's website they only do tailgates, bonnets and spoilers for the 306 in carbon Sad

EDIT: boom.. http://306oc.co.uk/forum/thread-8918.htm...motorsport

£400 for a carbon roof skin or £300 for a carbon kevlar roof skin, £200 for a fibre glass roof skin

It wasn't Hovis that had the parts, he was selling on behalf of NUR though. They're only in Reading mate, not too far to pop down and see what they have Wink

Danny, you are a hero, repped!

Scott, its a date! haha

Im guessing its just a case of adhering the carbon skin on then?

No worries mate!

I'd imagine it'd just be bonded on yeah.. supposedly a new non-sunroof skin is about £150 new... so a fibreglass one isn't even much more expensive

Carbon-kevlar is £300. That would probably be the one i'd be opting for TBF. Its just If I can get the roof skin off without removing the windscreen. would be nice lol

Thought as much. Might just punch the shit out of it, say an albatros hit it whilst driving through balham, then get a new one with a £75 excess ThumbsUp

i thought the c/f f/g roof skins were a replacment not a cover bonded over the top ! iirc you still have to remove the old skin

I woundnt bother with nur as Ollie told me all the issues he had with getting the bits for his Dimma.

Streamline carbon do roofs, but I'm not sure if they only do them fitted or not.

I reckon use windscreen bond to stick it on, if it holds the screen and that is structural then I don't see why it cant hold a structural roof skin.. You could stick your own windscreen in then too.

Chris, Thats the stuff most people use when replacing roof skins. As said, it holds a windscreen which is structural. Just hope you never have to remove it! lol

yeah...if you can get that round the lip that sits over the shell. Dont forget a windscreen just sits 'on' the body. The roof skin laps over.
