Clutch/Gearbox problem
#1
Hi guys,

Right, my 1998 1.4 petrol 306 has broken its clutch and needs a new one. However, whilst trying to get to the damn thing, one major problem occured.

We had already taken out the battery, disconnected most of the cables and detached the passenger driveshaft. However, the Gearbox - even with all bolts taken out - would not seperate. When trying to disconnect the Drivers side driveshaft however, it wouldn't come off. Everything we try isn't working.

Anyone with any solution please get in touch. Thank you for your time!!

The driveshaft will be seized into the intermediate bearing....hammers will be necessary!

The drivers driveshaft is still in the mid-bearing and the gearbox. But we can get it removed from the mid-bearing or the Box.

As Piggy said, the gearbox will not come out with the shaft still in there, it needs to be removed from the intermediate bearing first.... Get the hammers out. Wink

Yep, that did the trick! Had to get a metal bar and hammer out the shaft at the mid bearing. Once it was out, the gearbox needed a small shuffle and it came loose. Clutch changed and finished. Cheers everyone!! Thanks Piggy!!
