I second what makes you think its the diff?

IF IT IS just the diff, you can swap it out without dropping the tranny, but im yet to see one fail!

Right bare with me.......I have spoke to ruan on the phone to day who confirmed it is 99% the diff

Basically I dropped the box to change the clutch because I had a massive whine coming form the g/box area, assuming it was the push bearing as it was rattly at idel, so I changed the clutch and put the box back on. went to put the shafts in yet I couldn't get either side to go in :S tried for about an hour, nothing! so inspection time.

looking into the diff through the drive shaft hole you have two "sleeves" a smooth one after the seal then the splined one the shaft drives from. its dropped about 2/3mm. take the speedo drive housing off the other side same again, stick my finger in there (gigity) and I can push the splined sleeve updown left right all over the place, loose as you like

Now im no expert but im pretty sure that spline shouldn't move in there

Just to illustrate what I mean by "sleeve" (I know this isn't the correct diff but the concept id there)

And yes james upon getting the box off again there is ALOT of play there
