As me and vlj had the fright the other day.
It seems after i hit the deer, the bonnet has take a small ding in the corner; cutting a long story short; either corner of the bonnet shakes and lifts at 70-80.
I'd like something as cheap as possible, and something which is fairly discrete and not too gash looking. The bonnet is red, so perhaps a red catch to blend in?
I'm looking at the generic ebay jobbies, but unsure what else people have used/experienced?

Yeh, those round ones would be ideal, in red or black, but I can only fin the rectangular catches hmm..

the round locking ones are good, nice and flush to the bonnet with the added security

What sort of protection/flaws are there in comparison with the round ones. I'm liking the look of the black ones.

Those are ally pins dude.
EDIT: No they're not, the retards have just described them as alloy in the title, what do they think normal steel is then?

Just a point to make, d'ont know how friendly your local MOT tester and police are but the "sticky outy" bonnet pins are a bit of a grey area on a road car with regards to sharp projections capable of causing injury (a C&U offence)

This?
Perhaps they're likely to bend/snap being a weaker material?

Ah good point.
I've never been stopped by the police round here; given the condition of the 205 at the moment, but i suppose i could remove them come MOT time..

Here is an appropriate extract from the The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986
18 External projections
1. The vehicle shall not be fitted with any mascot, emblem or other ornamental object unless it complies with the requirements of regulation 53 of the Construction and Use Regulations.
2. The radius of curvature of all hard parts on or protruding from the external surface of the vehicle and which can be contacted by a sphere of 100 mm diameter, shall be not less than 2.5 mm.
Mascots
53.—(1) Subject to paragraph (2), no mascot, emblem or other ornamental object shall be carried by a motor vehicle first used on or after 1st October 1937 in any position where it is likely to strike any person with whom the vehicle may collide unless the mascot is not liable to cause injury to such person by reason of any projection thereon.
(2) Instead of complying with the requirements of paragraph (1) a vehicle may comply with Community Directive 74/483 or 79/488 or ECE Regulation 26.01.
Im sure theres more on protrusions in other places but i cant (CBA) find them at the moment. A quick google finds people who have had a fine and points for bonnet pins too.
Think id go for aero catches as they are £40 and the fine is £60

Yeah a copper didn't take to kindly to my bonnet pins, but that was the least of his worries so all was good, recess them and you'll be golden
