Hdi / Dreaded brown relay behind the Ecu

Right basically I've had starting issues for a year or so now traced into the brown relay behind the Ecu I believe it's the fuel pump or fuel something relay took it to a peug specialist and got it "replaced" but today wouldnt start so took it off and the pin at the very end looks as if it's burnt out the pin itself was a yellow colour and the bit it slots into was black and sooty so I'm assuming it blew, BUT does this mean I need another new relay or is it the bit it clips into that's at fault cos that looks like an absolute twat to replace :-( as its all wires anyone had this issue and can shed some light on the heat course of action :-(

I'd go to a scrap yard to source a replacement first. Worth a go at least.

Guy in my town who specialises in Peugeot an cotroen he's Ben going since before I was born but he didn't even change the part which had majorly
Pissed me off Undecided I made a little mark and when I had it off today it still
Has the mark so when ye garage it's
In now replace it I shall be taking the old one back as ramming it down his throat !!!

This is exactly what mine is like, the socket you plug the relay into, the pin has burnt out. All I've done is bend the pin so it makes a better contact. Seems to be alright for a while, but every now and again it won't start, but all I do is pop the bonnet and squeeze the relay home a little bit and it fires straight up

Yeah that used to work for me but to no avail today :-( hopefully a new relay will
Help cos I can see changing the socket it plugs into being an expensive job :-(

Anyone know if it's just wear and tear or is it an electrical issue ?

Might be a lift pump issue, they are prone to going on these and I know the one on mine was replaced, so maybe that's why its like that. Requires a whole engine loom, as its just far too many wires to chop and change

Ok so its done Bastid of a job was taken apart at the socket end and all the little metal plugs removed cleaned replaced and recrimped put original relay back in and it works ....... For now I think it was just bad contacts but I wouldn't recommended anyone doing it I just got raging cos it was so tight and broke a few clips so cable ties are now holding a bunch if plugs and clips on XD


Childlike hands are a must !!!!

Or remove the battery and "adjust" the ecu mount to give you some proper room to work with, much easier hahaa!
