Hub adapters
#1
I'm just asking out of interest really, has anyone on here run PCD adapters? Has anyone heard any horror stories about them?

I have, and yes i have.

As long as they're bolted in nice and tight they're fine. But I forgot to torque them up and my wheel nearly fell off on the motorway. The whole time the adapters were tight on I had no issues...

Ah of course it'd be you! Mind if I ask how much you paid for them and where from?

They're no different to bolt-to-the-hub spacers at the end of the day... Lots of people run them!

A lot, and from a random guy.

Problem is you need to make sure they're hubcentric. I had issues with mine as I got a custom CNC'd set but when I received them I noticed they were the wrong centre bore both inside and out, which lead me to a lot of problems.

IF you can find some that are hubcentric and 65.1mm centre bore you'll be talking over £100 for a set most likely, and then you need to get short headed bolts to attach them to the hub, and studs and nuts to bolt the wheel to the adapter. Gets very expensive very quickly. There's some on eBay at the minute that are 60-65mm centre bore but it isn't clear which way round they are, and they're £53 a pair, and i'm not sure what bolts come with them. Even if everythings there and the right centre bore that's £106 for four.

True, but they're a bit harder to come by, especially when you take all the measurements into consideration, like bolt thread pitch, centre bore etc.

Cheers for the info Chris Smile I've seen a fair few adapters on ebay which are for VW -> Peugeot adapters, but wasn't sure if you knew of any specifically that were better.

In all honesty (before all the X5 wheels comments start lol ) I've just been looking around on ebay to see what there is and most seem to be in VAG or Honda fitment and there isn't a lot of choice otherwise.

I did see a nice set of wheels in Peugeot fitment though they'd require adapters to bring centre bore down by about 8mm, or would require the same amount being machined off the inside of the wheel which doesn't seem like a great idea.

4x100 opens up a world of possibilities. f*cking stupid Peugeot idea, let's use a daft PCD and an ever dafter thread pitch and really ruin everyones lives...

nothing wrong with that if you can find a machine shop with a big enough lathe chuck.
Welding and fabrication projects undertaken, contact me for more information.

Machining wheels is pretty standard practice, but I guess it might be a bit pricey.

And I noticed the same thing, all the interesting stuff is 4x100

Yeah exactly, it comes down to money to be honest. At the end of the day it's a 12 year old Peugeot, so I don't really feel the need to spend lots buying wheels and adapters to have a Porsche badged set of alloys (for example). I was genuinely just interested to see whether anyone on here was using them as we mostly just see OEM wheels being fitted because it's nice and easy.

A Peugeot with Porsche wheels is cool...a Porsche...isnt cool.

think its HR that do the big selection of them.

No problems with them, they are just like normal hubcentric spacers, just make sure you torque all the bolts up properly and you'll have no issues.

Ive had a few sets of bolt to hub spacers in my time and own a torque wrench so feel free to pop up if you want them fitting.

OH and IMO X5 wheels would look epic on a 306.
