A lot of people are still under the impression though that diesels are noisy, dirty and unreliable when in reality, its quite the opposite. Dont forget, derv engines in your typical passenger car is quite a new thing.
The skoda had a old PD engine in from the early 00's. The kia has a modern common rail in it. Probably less than 8 years difference in the design dates of these engines and the difference is remarkable. The comparison was like comparing a John Deere and a Bentley.
