Gearbox seals shot

Hi guys, just had flywheel and clutch done but we couldnt get new driveshaft seals till monday Sad

Weve put it back together to find it leaking quite a lot

This is roughly whats left everytime i stop after a few hours :S

Would some gearbox stop leak get me through the weekend till we get new seals in what are your thoughts guys?

If its only a weekend, I woukdnt worry about it. You'll still have enough oil in there to prevent any damage

mine started to leak from the seals.

but it stopped once the gearbox was empty down to the seals
that was over a year ago with no problems lol

It should still have a good litre in there or so, assuming its only leaking from the driveshaft seals, ive ran gearboxes on worse lol

Sweet nice one guys just whipped back to garage and he said it had nowt in it before clutch and was ok so stop worrying and hell top it up when we put new seals in Smile

Yeah, BE3s are pretty much indestructible... I used to run mine on used engine oil, and it was half filled...

Still going today happily with no noises.

I wonder how that used motor oil got in there Ruan Tongue

As already said it will only run out as far as shaft level, which is more than enough to keep the tranny happy, but still get them changed / filled up properly when you get chance for peace of mind!

Sweet Darren, they arrived in post yesterday and i didnt fancy doing them on my back in the rain so its goin back into garage this week Smile
