Gearbox seals shot - CJ_Derv - 08-02-2013 Hi guys, just had flywheel and clutch done but we couldnt get new driveshaft seals till monday Weve put it back together to find it leaking quite a lot This is roughly whats left everytime i stop after a few hours :S Would some gearbox stop leak get me through the weekend till we get new seals in what are your thoughts guys? RE: Gearbox seals shot - samass - 08-02-2013 If its only a weekend, I woukdnt worry about it. You'll still have enough oil in there to prevent any damage RE: Gearbox seals shot - CJ_Derv - 08-02-2013 Cheers bud its hard to judge how much its actually losing when its soaking into the floor lol RE: Gearbox seals shot - Diggers - 08-02-2013 mine started to leak from the seals. but it stopped once the gearbox was empty down to the seals that was over a year ago with no problems lol #Frenchinvincibly RE: Gearbox seals shot - samass - 08-02-2013 It should still have a good litre in there or so, assuming its only leaking from the driveshaft seals, ive ran gearboxes on worse lol RE: Gearbox seals shot - CJ_Derv - 08-02-2013 Sweet nice one guys just whipped back to garage and he said it had nowt in it before clutch and was ok so stop worrying and hell top it up when we put new seals in RE: Gearbox seals shot - samass - 08-02-2013 Sweet deal man RE: Gearbox seals shot - Ruan - 09-02-2013 Yeah, BE3s are pretty much indestructible... I used to run mine on used engine oil, and it was half filled... Still going today happily with no noises. RE: Gearbox seals shot - CJ_Derv - 09-02-2013 Used engine oil haha quality i know what i can top up with then haha RE: Gearbox seals shot - darrenjlobb - 10-02-2013 I wonder how that used motor oil got in there Ruan As already said it will only run out as far as shaft level, which is more than enough to keep the tranny happy, but still get them changed / filled up properly when you get chance for peace of mind! RE: Gearbox seals shot - Toms306 - 10-02-2013 Used engine oil? Why couldn't they make TU 'boxes that strong!! RE: Gearbox seals shot - CJ_Derv - 10-02-2013 Sweet Darren, they arrived in post yesterday and i didnt fancy doing them on my back in the rain so its goin back into garage this week |
