Quick update.
Pompeymark donated me his broken armrest the other day. Rendered completely useless. So gubbins 'ere found a big door hinge and bolted it to the bottom of the armrest, then to the centre console, job done but it was a little sloppy so found a perfect rubber on the xsara I'm stripping, bolted it to the bottom of the rest and fanny's my aunt. ![]() ![]() Oh, and I still have my centre console pocket / coffee holder thingy. Perfect ![]()

Couple of pics from the driving seat i took whilst bored waiting outside a shop.
![]() ![]() Also fitted some new Mintex discs and pads today and flushed fluid and filled with dot 5.1 fluid because this car is scary when you've gotta slow from a high speed! Originally i was going to fit 206gti180 brakes but they wouldnt fit because of my massive hubs and the different offset.

Ha yeah, they're completely different to the ones i actually bought funny enough.
I think i paid the reduced price of £35 for last years 6's and these ones when i opened the box were completely different to those on display in halfrauds. They came up at £65 on the till i think and i said 'erm, these are £35 on the display' and ended up with them for 35 ![]() They need amping though, the 405 wiring harness has got crossovers somewhere and im not getting any midrange upfront, only from the rear where there's no bass or treble ![]()
19-04-2012, 09:12 PM
Thats odd :/ Ive got a 4 channel amp atm and unamped comp6s in the front. Thinking i should amp them seeing as ive got the stuff! Whats the best way to amp the fronts? Run wires from the amp in the boot back to the front and then cut into the headunit loom?
19-04-2012, 09:43 PM
I'd go straight from the Amp to the doors mate... Spot the blue conduit for the tweeter cables.
19-04-2012, 10:05 PM
Ahhh I see what youve done! Did wonder what the blue pipe was! Thought it may have been the drain pipe for heater blower but in blue! Ill see what space there is in the door for me to put things through!

t's been a while since i put anything in here. Few things have gone on, nothing major though.
Here's how it was when we had the rain. Found a few bits at the scrappy, speaker covers, boot seal, nearside headlight (old one was poor, faded), couple of window rubbers. Painted up the front callipers also. Also cut out a slat from the grille, drives much better with PLENTY of cool air, never goes over 75 deg. ![]() Ripped off the yellow shiz on the back of the car and used it as advertising space. Yeah, alright it's overkill. I actually want an 'sticker overkill' sticker... Gave it a clean up and added above said stickers and a little something on the bonnet which set me back a few quid for a tin of white primer... ![]() ![]() ![]() Small problem, not helped by the tractor tyres. ![]() Looking to replace the tyres soon anyway so i'll drop a profile, want to fit spacers all round, 10mm front 20mm rear maybe. Pulled off the dice earlier. Still want a wrap of some kinda red camo thing... But i think a new pair of topmounts and an offside driveshaft are more important. I'd also love to know why my blowers only work on full and where (if any) the blooming Resistor pack is. Talking of blowers... Captured this in the sun the other day - ![]() That maxxed out a few mins later. Anyhow, easily sorted, Press that magic AC button... ![]() MMM Peace

Was also just hearing about you giving a z4 a run for its money! ![]()

That's the original 405 wheel buddy.
And maybe, the Z4 was quicker, but hills... Pfft

I'm just up past forge garage.
Well guys... i've fallen in love with the car again, despite a really crap day! Read on... Yesterday i ordered a pair of Topmount kits, in a bid to stop the rattles from the front end, i was informed it'd arrive in the morning today, and it wasn't till i'd taken my old topmounts out today that they decided to tell me they wont have them today, great, my topmounts are actually S.hagged! Can you ever get 405 bits in a rush? NO. Thanks again ECP. Anyhow, not being able to get a hold of any topmounts for the car today, i took a chance and ordered a pair of topmount bearings and some 8MM Fuel hose... Basically, i made a rubber ring which sits between the top hat and bottom hat. Also changed CV boot today. Dropped the car back onto the floor, let it warm up outside the workshop, lockup and get in the car... WOWWWW instantly i feel the new topmount bearings, and as soon as i start hitting bumps the rattle and wobbles have gone, cornering is bloody tight! There's next to NO bodyroll and cornering is sooooooo much more stable, even braking and accelerating feels better. I have actually fallen in love with now it drives now! Now as you're driving home with the windows open you can actually cruise at 40mph and there is NO noise from the car hardly. You can hear the trees in the wind, sorry, it just feels real nice to have sorted out my crap handling and rattles with some 8mm fuel hose cut down one side and fitted to the topmounts. Despite this, i dont wanna give it too much welly cos there's not much left in the tyres... Oh, also fitted new ARB links, as always, someone OTHER than ECP managed to get it right for me. ![]() And some pictures from parade lad at FCS ![]() ![]() Peace

I'm hopefully going to be getting a Le-Mans 405, it'll have all the wheels, spoiler, bumpers, bump strips, leather interior etc. I'll be buying the car minus engine, and as a stroke of luck, it's the same colour as mine,
Let me find a pic... it looks completely different! These arent the car im buying, same spec tho. ![]() ![]()

You'd be suprised how very well these things handle.
I'm going to take the goodies from the Le-mans probably, then sell/scrap shell. Or do a total rebuild on it a bit like the white one at FCS, but lets face it, i dont, and never will have the money for that :/ (21-06-2012, 08:44 PM)KrisB Wrote: You'd be suprised how very well these things handle. Heres the idea kris! Clone!!! take the engine out the current one, put it in the Le-mans swap the number plates over and scrap the old one as the Le-man, then all you have to do is not get involved in a bad smash! ![]() Edit: Also if you ever sell the wheels DIBS ![]()

Is a shame to let it go to scrap though cant be alot of them left, trouble is if you drop a DT in it insurence goes through the bloody roof even no its Just a safer version of the OE DT

Hey guys.
I had to swallow my pride today and purchase two used tyres... For the sake of £50 and to keep the car legal until I can afford the tyres I really want... Pirelli P Zero's Anyhow, I found the best part worns they had, a pair of Continentals. In 195/45/16 and OH MY! Haha. These things are the nuts compared to the budgets I had, these are actually better in the wet than the budgets are in the dry. Yet again the front end is stiffer. They really complement the rebuilt arms, droplinks and topmounts. It's sooooooonice to drive... Just need another pair of the same tyres for the rear or P Zero's The profile drop (now pretty much the same as 195/50/15). Means I can work on the height because on the 205/50's the middle of the tyre tread rubbed the top of the inner arch, the 195/45/16 have created a big arch gap!. I think the cars STILL. Too high so I may have to save for some 306 coilovers and drop it down to -100mm front and maybe 90 at the rear for some stance. Driveshafts are getting very close to the coolant pipe! Will get some pics 2moro. |
