Proof there then that 11mm'ing and gov modding will see you what you want pretty easily Tongue

On a side-note, such a shame Ruan's HG had gone so badly by the time he made it to the dyno. apparently it feels crap by comparison to how it was going!!

The only thing I've done to it is remove the coldstart spring...

And yeah, the head gasket is f*cked, bolts are stretched, it's probably got bent rods... And goes nowhere near as well as it used to, so something is f*cked, I've not adjusted anything... So it must be the engine getting tired.

It used to light up 3rd and 4th regularly if you provoked it, now you'll be lucky if it starts to break traction in 2nd... Has no guts, blows coal, doesn't even think about abusing the clutch anymore... Just generally shite...

New engine hopefully being removed this weekend... So it's rebuild time!

But remember, that's over 2 years and 30k miles of pretty much double stock power... Considering I that's a 100% stock engine, nothing has been changed apart from the turbo and pump, I rekon that's pretty impressive. And all I've probably done is buckled the rods slightly and destroyed the head gasket... If anyone hit double stock power in a 100% stock petrol, they'd be more than expecting head gasket and rod problems...

Well, not got it yet...

Basically I intend on putting a set of HDi rods in, proper head studs, re-fitting the oil cooler, proper clutch, FMIC'ing it.... Basically, see if I can make this one a bit more reliable and able to be abused properly...

Going to see about some ceramic coatings to try and protect the cylinder head from heat mroe...

^^ It will make it more reliable though; lower charge temps, therefore more air in, more efficient combustion therefore burning more of the available fuel reducing coal and therefore egts... if it's done properly (ie decent clamps, beaded pipes etc.) its much much better for the engine!

Well, I don't know if it will make a massive difference... I mean, I've only melted one vane mechanism... But that wasn't from high IATs... In fairness, my car runs 20-22psi of boost - stock they were 14psi and it's a bigger turbo, spinning slower... Being a much more efficient turbo, the heat should be even less, at 14psi of boost, it should be LESS heat than the original, the exhaust side is less restrictive, so there should be less heat contained in the engine... The IATs are IMO not the problem, but it's more of a preventative kinda thing...

It's in the hope, and also I'm making my own inlet manifold based on the stock one, in an attempt to not have either a Xantia Lunchbox strapped to the back of my engine, or the stock one with one of those 'orrible adapters which are just horrible for any flow...

Turbo will probably stay the same, unless I find a super cheap 2056 or 2256... This one's good for 200-220hp...

Remember my car made 175hp ATF with only 21-22psi of boost...

You looking to make an inlet like one that popped up on eBay not that long ago? With a welded round outlet facing the battery on a stock manifold? I can't see how this would be much better then a 406/Xantia? I thought they weren't supposed to be that bad?

Nah, the Xantia inlet is OK, but nothing special, moreso unless you cut it all open and remove the EGR piping crap from inside, also it means the boost pipe has to come up over the middle of the engine, or you have to have a load of 90* bends to avoid the filter housing and vac pump... Going to build a proper one:

Technically it's not the BEST design for a 1.9 IDI Diesel - there's better out there, but A. They look crap and B. It'd be a ballache to make and foul on everything... I've seen one done, and they just look gash!

Realistically, thats gonna make about 0.5% difference to your power... your not a rev happy chap so its gonna make even less difference. So many things that would be better to invest time into! I admit I f*cking hate the Xiantia lunchbox... why would some twa t design something as square as that???? but in all honesty, it'll make very little odds...

Heh, I guess you can say that about 90% of things with diesels tho, as at the end of the day, provided the engines strong, all you need to worry about is the pump / turbo...everything else can be overcome by turning up those two things...and is normally alot cheaper than trying to make up the odd 1hp here and there, but it would be good to see, as the stock inlet is pretty tragic, but yeh your quite right, wont make any odds heh.

Yes, but that mani only lasted a few days, he ended up welding the turbo onto a normal mani then rr.

Essentially most of it is purely to make pipe routing better and not look as gash... The Xantia lunchbox does look like, well, a lunchbox... And the stock one looks like a bodge up with an adapter...

I know it'll make little odds, but meh... Same could be said for many things, just one thing I fancy giving a go...

I ran 166bhp iirc and 245 pounds iirc on a standard 9mm turned up and bigger turbo....

I may open a can of worms here.........I done one very, very simple 'bolt on' mod and although never dyno'd it again it pulled ok 6 after (4.5-5 before) and I could make smoke again, easily a 15-20hp bolt on......if youve the air and exhaust flow......
