Tidied up the VNT mechanism:
Fitted shinieee spacers

Next on list, mapping adjusted for VNT control as I messed that up... Cooling, more testing but likely a 240SX rad...
Brakes and rear beam...

Only just looked at tge thread again. Those wheels look ace!!!!!! Really suit the build
Dont even dare compression test my engine. Just gonna give up and get on building a fresh lump, tom hortons very kindly sorted direct fitting arps for me just to go overkill. Will perhaps never need them but you only know when its too late. Future proofing never hurt

Found lost key. Annoying.

Valve springs cracked FSR - two different engines with different springs had the same failure mode.

Thanks all.
Had many offers of parts which is super kind and may indeed keep this going. Company who supplied springs has been good and on inspection of the snapped spring has seen its a material fault
They have asked for a price on parts to put right.
Next step is finding a different company to make springs!
Tbh.
I was ready to walk away from it Sunday evening.
I'm coming round now with some light from tunnels from different angles appearing
Head not worth repair, valve seat is destroyed but so is the head behind the valve seat.

Good to hear it's not defeated you! There's so much other stuff you've done which won't have to be repeated. Once the piston is sorted I'd be tempted to stick a standard DW10/12 16v head on there for a bit with the boost dialled down just to have it running for a while, but that's just me. Was just browsing eBay & found one for about £130 quid but it's disappeared now. Not you was it?!!

It wasn't boost related.
I was cruising off boost at the time this happened.
I'm still on a pretty mild map tbh. Not much more boost than stock.

Ah, right. Very good luck with finding everything you need to get it back on track. Does sound like you're going to get a lot of support in achieving that.

what kind of spec were the springs? anything from another engine suitable?
seems for the 16v xu's the piper spring set is the same for vauxhall and ford cosworth engines.

Not as yet no, a lot of checking, measuring etc was done to see if same found elsewhere but no joy.
