same engine afaik, will depend on year as to ecu etc, they changed them to HDI same as everything else too after a certain time

I don't know if the XUD9s have an ECU but IIRC they did the XUD11s in them and they didn't do a pure mechanical XUD11 so like the 406 I reckon theres a probability that they had ECUs
Kyle Kaye has one (find him on FB as he's a .net member) so ask him.

Could you not convert to a mechanical pump easy enough?

yes.
I believe most of them will be the semi ecu controlled things like the 406. pretty standard fare engine wise, much like most XUD's, gearboxes can play up as they are in an 1800 kilo vehicle so get worked hard all the time, suspension running gear etc is all van based so very sturdy, they only tend to rot when damaged, electricals and plastic things can cause problems.
need a part number? http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/ and http://service.citroen.com/ will sort you out.
I am on here aswell Chris
They come front mounted as standard. They are quite underpowered in standard form tbh just a case of swapping the pump and I removed the ecu with a light tune makes a massive difference. You forget its such a heavy car now. They are riedics tight to work on tho and the cable gear selectors can be a pain. The rubber ends have come away on mine and re over 100 to replace the cables Also the bootlids crack along the numberplate section so look out for this. Usually from slamming it they do seem to flex a lot

If you had to recommend an older type mpv diesel load lugger would it be an 806/synergie/ulysee as I have a really good xud9te in my defunct 405 project, but know zilch re the three mpv`s mentioned above.
