XUD exhaust question
#1
Hey folks,

Got a 1997 Dturbo. Noticed that the CAT sits VERY close to the gear change rod, and so gives a wee clunk when the car is started and stopped. The exhaust will probably need renewed in the near future, and just wondering if I can simply change it for a non CAT type, this will be cheaper and easier to fit, and will remove the clunk too... Is this OK as I believe it is a visible smoke test only, or will the MOT guy know there should be a CAT based on VIN etc?

Cat shouldnt be that close...sounds like bad fitment

Current regs say...if it had a cat...it needs one

Hmmm. I did wonder why it was so close. Maybe I can drop it a bit by playing with the hangers. Looks like the CAT is welded into the pipe,no flange joins. Is this normal?
