Hi guys
Ive hunted hi and low and cant seem to find the answer only answer im getting is what ive already done
got a 306 hdi and engine went so got another one and dropped it in , never changed the ecu/loom just unplugged everything and dropped other engine in an plugged everything back in.
Engine turns over sound and all lights light up but theres 2 issues
1. No EML on ignition light
2. Lift pump in the tank not kicking in and priming fuel
ive put battery to pump and tried it that way and works fine just not off ignition
im assuming the EML light not on and the fuel pump not coming on ( priming ) are both connected
Theres gotta be someone that knows what the issue is or has come across this same problem
The things i have checked are
fuses.
Earth straps.
fuel cut of pressed in .
still nothing

Is the bulb for it still in the clocks?
Did everything work before hand?

What's the background, why have you made the engine swap? Do all the other lights come on, battery, abs, airbag, etc?

ive checked all fuses twice buddy and under bonnet and f*ck all !!!
i am unsure as how to use multi meter 100 % , do i just set to above 12v dcv and push in both prongs to plug to check current ?

yes but no, set meter to read volts, above the amount being tested ( 20v DC for 0 to 20v dc ) and insert probes, one probe to "wire" or conductor of interest, like one side of the fuse, and the other probe to earth ( a known good earth like any clean shiny bit of the cars metal which is earthed ) .....meter will show volts ( not current, amps ) .....
then try the other side of the fuse...........should show same result.
if not then problem.
start at the battery and check voltage across battery with ign on, to set a battery voltage level.......
both probes across the fuse will show a voltage drop across the fuse.
remove fuse and do a resistance/continuity check across fuse ....if fuse blown, then no continuity ( very very very very very very very high resistance or infinity ) if fuse ok then no resistance.
you have instructions for the multimeter?

Get peugeot planet on it. My bet is the ECU is locked.

I'm thinking immobiliser, but that doesn't explain the lack of eml. I'm inclined to say wiring fault, want to have a good look with a bit of diagnostic kit if you can, at least to see if the ecu is communicating.

was i right in hearing that the ecu is coded to the engines? if that is true, then thats your problem.

Nope that's incorrect.
Ecu is coded to the bsi unit and chip in key

nope, there is no engine to ecu coding, its ecu to transponder and key chip.

If there's no EML and no lift pump - the ECU isn't being supplied power.
You need to check the power to the ECU - get your haynes out and start tracing, it'll be something insanely simple at a guess if it was working before, it'll just be something unplugged.

Have you reconnected the plugs on the chassis leg?

sorry for delay as you can guess been fiddling 'still' ....
checked all plugs to engine and i thought about it and even if one was disconnected it would not stop the EML coming on just detect an error and light it up as it all sensors , nothing on the engine ignites the EML !!!
ive looked at manual and its all dutch with me being no electrician ,im ok under bonnet with simple terms and stuff but diagrams are a head f*ck to say the least...
Can anyone else tell me were the ecu gets power or EML ?
ive changed all relays and fuse's all been checked ... CHEERS GUYS
