Hi, the car failed its mot on an imbalanced on the rear brakes any idea what i should be looking for to resolve the issue?

ps. its a 1.4 meridian with drum breaks and girling shoes

Just adjusting them properly should do the job though.

Take the drums off as I expect there will be a fair bit of dust in there. Give it all a clean and adjust and then put it back together. And while the drums are off check the wheel cylinders aren't seized

mine was the same last Saturday, it failed;
drums off, de-dust, clean and adjust the auto adjuster up as drum came off too easily------put it on to check if drum spun, decided to loosen the adjuster..............as I pulled drum off the wheel bearing sh*t itself into about 10 pieces !! ordered new bearing & pressed it in, all happy and mot,d now.
