Id have told them are you having a laugh! Let me know what you want to do, as i can try and get in coms with a few lads who race these, there will be wanting these for a reshells or to build new cars, Ie for a higher class, and sell the old car on. My Gta nearly ended up been used for a racer, as the racer who sparked interest in it, had a smack with his, but it had come at the wrong time for him.

Tbf, an F postcode is the worst you can get, I didn't realise you'd moved to downtown Baghdad.
That is a hell of an increase though, what are you thinking of getting? Apart from the 1.4 306 which you'll instantly hate.
01-10-2014, 09:59 AM
I'd skip the 1.4 and go straight for a 1.9DT if you can..
01-10-2014, 03:42 PM
get a hdi or a dturbo and join in the fun. Or get a 1.8 and then its finally fair?
01-10-2014, 05:04 PM
if you want stay with the posh rover, why not just buy this one

That is a ridiculous price increase. Have you thought of complaining to the ombudsman?
02-10-2014, 06:36 AM
So I spent yesterdays lunch break on the phone with them, asking why the increase. Apparently the area I was in was very good "yay" but the area I'm in now is very bad "boo" which is odd as it seems like quite a nice area. Heck there's a retirement home thing accross the street. But also the change of job titlle from student to civil engineer and that I'm using it for work purposes now.
On the phone the lady tried to tell me the price was now £670 a £100 increase the day before of which I started to loose my temper a bit, also asked about changing to a 1.4 306 which she couldnt get a price on so would email me later on. Well I got the email turns out they made a "mistake" on putting in my details so it should be £280 rather than £570 and I would get a £95 refund for switching to the 306 which could be used against the £280 charge to make it £185 to switch to a 306. So think the Zr will be staying for a bit longer as it seems the car doesn't have much of an impact. I wonder if they would have noticed the "mistake" if I hadn't phoned up about it The drive to work isn't far enough for it to be diesel worthy a small 1.0 3 cycl petrol would be ideal haha The metro is foul I'm sorry but the colour scheme ruins it Do the ombudsman people help sort out this kind of thing then? Is the £280 increase more acceptable do we think?

Have you got any quotes from other insurers? That be my way.
If its cheaper elsewhere tell them that! Wishes for more power...

Try some other insurers. Shop around! At least it isnt breaking the bank as much as you thought!

Sent brentacre my details seeing what they come back with although not too keen on loosing 7 months of NCB

They'll probably charge like 200 quid cancellation fee! I don't think its a bad increase considering the area difference and adding commuting.
So got a bit keen to get home yesterday after work and turned too quick into the estate causing the back left wheel to hit the curb, with quite some force. Didn't think much of it as drove to yorkshire meet last night but on the way home I noticed the car was pulling to the left quite a bit and didn't feel as good to drive as it had done 24 hours previous (although that wasn't spectacular either)
On the way home today had the windows down and realised I have a ticking sound echoing off the houses I drove past , am I right in thinking I could have goosed the wheel bearing? Been looking and at least the rear ones don't need pressing out just a swap of the unit Still need to get the gear linkage sorted as well, will try and remember to get a video of just how bad it currently is

I got mugged off after changing my address and being stuck with my current insurers as it would've cost me half the cost of my premium to leave, despite having only had the policy a month. Well f*ck, the zr is making some very interesting noises now.
Tried jacking up the rear end and checking the bearing, no up and down movement Tried spinning the wheel, no odd noises there Tried one of the spare wheels, same noise Tried pushing suspension up and down when the wheel was off, no noises from there Any ideas people? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TWujSGq...e=youtu.be

Disc guard catching?
08-10-2014, 08:43 PM
Honestly, sounds like beam creak...but you dont have a beam!
Perhaps damper creak or spring creak on the rubber seats?! Wishes for more power...

Does the noise only occur when going slow?
When was the last night you serviced the back brakes? Wishes for more power...
08-10-2014, 09:30 PM
No it'll be about when doing 30 can hear it bouncing off the barriers on the drive to work. Noise has only come on since clipping that curb :/
Might just have to take a chance and fit this see if that fixes http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ROVER-MG-ZR-ZS...4d245cc1fc

Ah I missed the kurb clipping connection. May well be.

Sounds like something is fouling, have you tried having a good look round it when it's on the ground? How about the handbrake cable guides?
09-10-2014, 09:30 AM
Taking it to garage at lunch to get them too look over see if it's wheel bearing. Can't find a replacement in any of the local eurocarparts or gsf parts
Think it's more than something rubbing as can feel something isn't quite right
So...ummm.yea. bit embarrassing really. Took it to garage who said its from front wheel not back "oh crap" I thought I ont remember hitting the front that's going to be $$$
Guy jacked it up and there was a lot of play in the wheel, oh crap I thought once again. he turns to me and says "yours wheels loose" "as in track rod ends? bearings?" "no...your wheels loose look." removes one of the wheel bolts with little more than some can do spirit "oh...tits" "yea whoever tightened this up was an idiot" *cue one idiot standing embarrassed as work colleges walk past*
09-10-2014, 11:59 AM
Haha, at least it was a cheap fix!
