Just curious is there any difference between my 1.4 and a gti6 body and chassis wise? Apart from phase 3 bumpers?
Difference between bodies?

The number of doors.
But other than that, no the actual chassis is the same on all 3dr's.

Yeah and cheaper overall to just buy a GTI6 and ten you get all the toys too

Yeah, just buy a GTi6 lol, unless you wanted a 5dr one...

Try adding your mum, nan, old person on there to bring the price down. I had both my parents on mine until I was 21.

There wont be any good ones left in a few years unfortunately. Its already getting difficult to find one...

Named drivers don't have to live in the same address...or even the same county...

You can still add him, I lived away for a while and had both my parents on it and that brought it down still.

You might find a make driver doesnt make much difference. I always found if I put my mum and stepmum on it went down loads, soon as I added my dad it went back up.

If you want a gti6 then get a gti6. If you want a 5 door gti6 then you will need to swap the suspension, gearbox and associated cables and stick etc, ARB, rear beam, gti6 boot trim.
Definitely dont get a 1.8 and then spend all your money on it. That would be a very silly thing to do.

Yeah hopefully when I'm a bit older and my insurance drops I will get one and haha guessing that's what you've done with your 1.8?

That's nuts, insurance on my GTi6 at 19 was about 800 a year? I'm only 20 miles down the road too!

Damn :/ How long have you held your licence for? That seems to be what makes the biggest difference for me tbh

That'd do it! I had 3/4 years licence and the same no claims at the time, hence the cheap price!

I was paying £550 on my GTi6 at 21?!
In Gloucester!

its suprising how much a 1 yrs no claims will bring that quote down, come end of may when i get my firsts yrs no claims it will cost me around £1300 to insure my gti with me as named driver with mother and father added to the policy. would just wait it out till then tbh
24-04-2014, 02:47 PM
Yeah gonna wait a year till I think about a gti6
24-04-2014, 05:38 PM
1 years experience makes the biggest difference
You might actually find it as bad as you think to insure one as youths and people who cant drive for shit own 1.4s and TDs so they get crashed more than GTi6s so the risks can be lower.
