I was up the arse of a Seat leon, 13 plater, last week. You should have seen his face! As he was one of these boy racer lads, Sometimes i have to dish out a bit of punishment and my car does receive a lot of shit on the road.

Looking at very imminent complete head gasket failure.
There's enough water in the bores it seems to prevent the engine starting sometimes. Very down on power and drinks coolant more than I drink booze Luckily I've made a start rebuilding the replacement engine. The bits are with Miles as we speak

Oh dear...sounds familiar!
Be ace with new engine though...td04, 11mm with hdi rods and those studs should see you close to 190bhp surely?! Do you not get issues with the turbo eating oil from the breather system? Wishes for more power...
03-02-2014, 09:55 PM
I've got the breather venting to atmosphere at the moment. It's not plumbed into the intake system
I'm looking forward to getting it working properly

Thats a bit of a shitter. Keep at it mate, you'll win eventually.

Right update time...
Thanks again to Trent for the clocks/loom/dash surround! I fitted these and every dial worked from the off so was happy with that, had to replace a shit load of bulbs but thats a given with 205 clocks. I was most chuffed about the rev counter working straight away, I know these can be a lady garden to get working. All in all, it was pretty straight forward, i've taken the dashboard out in 205's enough times and had the whole thing back together and working in about 3 hours. The stdt loom was like for like plug wise against the old NAD loom. The "oh shit my engine's already f*cked light" I didn't have the coin tray or the other triangle trim so I decided to copy a mates idea and modify the cowling to accept a base model triangle trim. I got it through a MOT earlier and went to costco to stock up on veg Also centralised the rack and got the tracking sorted, should handle a bit better now. Next on the list is: Fit gti valance to be able to lower the rad further Fit a slightly larger intercooler Build up the engine with the td04 Get the exhaust built up Sort out some uprated suspension

I've got a 205dturbo conversion too hahaha.

It's on the cold side, take off the compressor housing and you will find it.
13-04-2014, 08:16 PM
There's no need to is there?
I can get the angle I want by removing the hot side
13-04-2014, 09:00 PM
Not really you need to move the cold side as if not the oil feed and drain won't be pointing straight down
15-04-2014, 05:17 PM
Glad the clocks are finally being put to good use!

Pants, always a worry seeing xud's with holes in the block
You go a few months without seeing one, then a few crop up - a stark reminder to us all Time for a new bottom end then I guess? *edit This is your old engine right? and you have a shiny one to drop in yes?
25-07-2014, 07:35 AM
I'm impressed! I only managed a run away diesel which I never managed to properly diagnose.

It's the old engin, so standard rods thankfully.
Other engine is ready to go in, just waiting on a few hoses. I was literally pulling into a side road maybe slightly more than medium throttle. A big whoosh and a bang! The thing that really pissed me off the most is a bit of the piston got lodged in the tyre and gave me a puncture on a brand new tyre!
