Danny's TD04 Blaze D Turbo.

do not fit gauze over the inlet side of the turbo, it actually restricts it, I ran 40psi, put gauze over it, and it would peak 30psi, so it came straight back off.

Wait, what?
No filter at all?
What about sucking in stuff?
Is it safe to do?

How did you get to 40 PSI, did you have a Frankenpump of some sort?
Can't say it is safe to run de-filtered but it goes better and sounds better IMO.

Turbo is fine, adapter plate had worked loose.
In other news, went to pick up my new AP coilies after work from ScottBMXer off here.
Got them picked up and on the way back my power steering pump seized, threw the aux belt off, into the cam-belt, put the timing out and made a hell off a lot of smoke and noise while it was at it-all in the middle of Beaconsfield Town centre!
Still ran, albeit very rough and managed to drop Scott back in Wycombe and made it back to my house with no lights or power steering and loads of white/timing smoke pouring out the arse end.
Definite engine swap this weekend then.

If I'm honest I was kinda letting it destroy itself, knowing I had a spare engine in stock.
Jethro, bring your wallet down as this is looking expensive.
I feel if you want to inherit the car you should pay at least 3/4 of the repair costs, thats fair surely?

Had a good day today. Apart from dropping the exhaust manifold and turbo set up on my finger.

Got the old engine out by 11 this morning and down the shed next to the new one and set about swapping bits over.

One manky engine bay.

Car park to shed transport. Yes, it is very heavy still.

Back in the shed again.

Its now pretty much ready to go back in apart from re fitting the manifolds and intercooler.

The old bruiser stripped.

Shiny new'un.

Hopefully back in its hole and running tomorrow.
Cheers. Danny.

Cracked on a bit more at a Sunday pace today. Got tomorrow off so no rush for once.
Got the engine completed and ready to go back in tomorrow morning, jet washed the engine bay and put new top mounts on the new A.P's.

Back in the wheelbarrow ready for the morning.

Bit cleaner than before, not perfect but it'll do.

Old knackered Gmaxx supersport next to the shiny A.P's.

Cheers, more tomorrow. Smile
Danny.

All back together and running very well.
Had the wheel alignment sorted and handles like a demon on the APs,needs dropping further still though.
Obviously had a boost leak before as it is boosting far better now, coming in a bit earlier and was boosting nice and clean so i've given it another half turn gained a fair bit more pressure but there is a bit of haze so I will knock it back again a bit tomorrow.
Pic in case you don't believe me.Wink Was getting dark when I took it so is even worse quality than usuall.

Yeah I'm well chuffed with how it's turned out, been three long greasy days and all my neighbours think I'm mental.
Finally found the power I was looking for and all my handling issues are sorted after a lot of frustration. Turns out it was my old shocks all along.
New lump is on 76K so should last a while with its new belts and tensioners.

So I was driving home tonight and suddenly lost all my electrics. Everything went, lights, dash, blowers the lot. Couldn't even turn it off with the key, had to stall it.
Any body with any electrical knowledge able to point me in any directions?

Goes for MOT tomorrow.
Unless it gets a complete bill of health it is for the chop. HIGHLY unlikely.
Already started stripping my Mrs 1.4 for the shell.
Fuel tank, filler neck and lines are gone, clocks are out, beam is being lowered.
Got the engine running so sweet with the td04, I can't let the boostings go. But it is a LOT of work.

Almost all of me says it's time to move on and try something different....Nospeak

Need encouragement I think.

Paint a GTI/ Phase 3 bumper the way that the Phase 1 bumpers are sprayed.
Colour coded top part, satin black middle and colour coded bottom.
I like the way the black breaks up the bumper also, so i did my Ph 3 bumper like that.

Failed on rear drum needing adjusting, headlight aim too low and brake lights stopped working. Must be recent because I only did the switch the other week.

Advisory for "exhaust made up of various bits and extensively modified" hehe ,mid-box to back-box mod. And oil leak, standard.

Could have been a lot worse. Gonna get it re-tested Monday hopefully as long as the brake lights aren't a farce.

Everything sorted apart from headlight beam which I will do at the test centre.
Couldn't be happier with the result.

Really want to make the rolling road day at telford next weekend.
