(This post was last modified: 09-05-2014, 11:31 PM by kentiiboii.)
So Saturday I joined another Peugeot group on Facebook, ended up seeing a add for a gti6 for sale with no tax or test in Derby £450. After speaking to the lad I was told he bought it a year ago fitted a new radiator and never got anywhere else with it, but he knew it needed in tank fuel pump needed live running to it.
I was going to look Sunday after work, but he called me to say it isn't starting he thinks starter motor has seized which isn't much of a problem as I have a gti6 full of spares.
So I handed £350 and a mate to bring it on home on his truck I started work on it today.
Changed the starter motor, battery and connecting live to fuel pump it eventually started. It's revving up to 3k revs atm but when we took the intake manifold of we didn't have a gasket to replace so just used a bit of sealant to get it running, so it could be letting air in.
History of the car, old man use to own it left his wife and it was sat on her garden. Lad I bought it of bought it to fix up but decided he has too many cars and not enough time.
It's diablo red with 80k miles on clocks, body work isn't amazing but there's no lacquer peel.
The cars been sat for at least 5-6 years so there's going to be a lot of stuff to change.
Plans are...
Fit intake manifold.
Change leaky rear caliper.
Take for mot so I can make sure it's not going to cost me too much.
Sort mot fails out.
Change cam belt, tensioners and water pump.
Full service as it's been a while.
New front bumper.
New tyres.
Underseal under the car and in the arches.
Dam good clean as she's mouldy!
Only have one picture at the moment will get more tomorrow.

My cousin wants to use the garage tomorrow to sort his exhaust out, so I'll pull her out and give her a wash, get rid of the mould and put a winter sealant on to keep it protected till its ready to come out. :-)
I got to get front end back on anyway.

that's the plan for me, but my hdi is going off the road on Friday as tax is up and insurance. don't wanna spend the money on hdi when it could get my gti6 on the road, but all comes down to mot on the gti6.

My diablo Ph.2 didn't have any lacquer peel either, Ph.1s seem a lot worse for it.

Pictures will come today when it's out the garage and washed.
Well in the garage there's a pit so yes been under looking for rust just looks like odd bit of surface rust tbh going to underseal it all anyway.

The black one is a better colour, but it's more rotten than we both though.
Jacked passenger side up and Jack went through jacking point.
Plus this one's got the better engine and only done 80k miles.

Just after the gasket at the moment mate. Injectors seem ok.
Here's car outside the garage before a wash.
Today I've put new drivers headlight and fitted front end, although needs Hocky sticks and front bumper.

That plug is a spare plug, doesn't need to plug into anything.
It is normally taped down but after 13-18 years the tape has long since stiffened, perished and fallen off in most cases.
There are a couple of spare plugs kicking around in the engine bay depending on model.

Yeah figured it was a spare, got my dad to look in his engine bay. :-) just wiping sealant off now. Will benefit from a serious polish though but that's for another day.

That one always throws me...every time I plug everything back in there's that one sitting right near all the sensors and I wonder what I've f*cked up for a second.

Yeah given it a good wash today and just covered it in winter sealant for the time being it's desperate for a polish but going to save that before she goes on road.
It needs new rear caliper because it's burst but I have one anyway, all disc and pads.
I've checked the car and not expecting anything major tbh, need to get my tps from my dad's as he nicked it for his car.

Yeah I wondered if we had missed it so I rang my dad straight up and he said it was just hanging around in his as well.

For the money it is a cracker! It's not in brilliant condition outside it's got few deep scratches and dints, but it's not bad. Given it a good wash and put winter sealant on today to keep it protected for time being but the paints pretty dead atm so will benefit major from polish...
Time for after pictures ;-)

Not sure if this is tree sap or bubbled paint.

Cracked bumper.
[attachment=13861]
Dints on side.

Hopefully sort some more bits out next week ready to take it up for mot.
