Reclining Bucket

I've read a few threads on how to go about fitting a bucket seat, but I'm still utterly confused.

If you went down the route of no fabrication, what exactly is required?

Seat subframe
Seat runner kit
Side mounts

Having had a look earlier, I noticed, on my car now that the seat is attached at the side, whereas my old one did not. Is that just a difference between a 3dr and a 5dr?

Am I also right in saying that a runner kit isn't necessary, it just means you sit lower?

Was just about to post a thread on this lol. So can you attach an aftermarket seat to the original runners somehow?

they many different fitting kit ranging vastly in price.All kinda based around 4 point of contact or the omp base plate which literally is a plate which you can drill the shit out of

I did no welding a have fitted bucket seats used side mounts sat nice and low.was as good as mate mounts which where welded in.

Im puting some evo 5 seats in my astor in the next few weeks so may put a how to guide up.

All the info is out there. Or ask me, god knows I went though tons of seats and mounts.

Probably only going to change the drivers seat and that's got a bit of hole. I'll take a pic of it for you anyway.

What confuses me is if say I want to fit Recaro front seats from a vw for example, and they come with rails on them, do I use these rails and try to bolt them to the ground somehow? Or do I use the 306 rails and try to bolt the seat to them?

Just get lost in it all, one person says x another says y. Hard to find a definitive answer.

Ok well with my recaro's as they have a arse fan thing and aren't quite flat I'm using some accord type r runners as seats are the same.then I either going to mod base mounts or make something up which is more steady.

Universal parts do have a habit of having to be moded, but something like a runner should be fine.Depends on what seats you go for as I got cobra base plates when I had my cobra seats and literally took 5 minutes to put in.I payed a premium but everthing fitted and saved alot of ball ache.

The omp base plates are quite good as give you literally a plate to do what you want.Would you be keeping the seat belts.

Thinking of a sparco seat, so as long as I go for all the sparco accessories that should be all good then.

I would keeping the seat belts yes, as it's a reclining bucket. That wouldn't cause any issues though, would just be a case of swapping the buckle over.

It depends on what seats you go for, but "off the shelf" seats are universal. As are sliders. The part that needs to be for your car is the mount, as it needs to bolt to your specific car. There's a few different ones about. I wasn't overly impressed with the OMP ones are saw, which Matt fitted to his. I used Cobra ones in my '6, which were expensive but worth it. They fitted well and had seatbelt mounts, which the OMP ones don't. Remember that the seatbelt bolts to the seat, so when you replace it you need to make up a bracket if there isn't one, like the Cobras.

But if you are buying a set of seats with seatbelts out of a normal car, can I just find any way to bolt the new seat to the 306 sliders?

If that's the case, then it's not as simple as that. The 306 bases are all part of the seat, and not easily adaptable. You would just have to get creative and fabricate your own bases.

Found this if it helps basically a cobra mount which is direct fit and then you can use the hole if you have a cobra seat or as I did drill though for my side mounts as they where really solid already.
