Well I have a weird problem. First time I turn the key there is no noise from the lift pump and the glow plug light doesn't come on. The car does no start. Second cycle of the ignition you can hear the lift pump and the glow plug light is on - however it will still not always start on this second attempt (though usually does). It can sometimes take 4 ir 5 goes to start but always starts eventually and runs fine.
I've had it plugged in and the only code relates to fuel rail pressure. Any ideas? I feel there are 2 separate faults here.
Thanks in advance.

Do you get any other lights come on with the ignition or is the dash stying dark?

Sounds like a relay issue, i've got a feeling the brown relay controls the glow plugs as well as the lift pump, so i'd suggest starting there.

There is a separate glow plug relay beneath the brown relay.

Right - something I only just spotted. The engine management light doesn't come on the first turn of the key, but only when the car has been left standing.

I have the same problem. Never bothered to check as leaving it 10/20 seconds it starts. May investigate. Seems like a common problem though.
