I'm gonna give it a damn hard tune when I have a day off, its only boosting 15psi at the moment but that's with the restrictor on the max fuel, got a new screw so I can whack it up and fit my ground LDA pin, then chuck it on't dyno running veg. I'd be happy with 120bhp to be honest.

Had a run up to Whitehaven to get some Rainsport 2s fitted at Camskill, £166 for 4 which I was chuffed with, would've been rude not to have a blast over the Kirkstone Pass and along the shore of Ullswater...

It started chucking it down (standard Cumbria) so good chance to test them out, amazing wet grip, can actually pull out of junctions quickly without just spinning up Big Grin

I've had them since last October and rate them well in the wet, great for stopping as well in a non-abs car lol

They are more comfortable and very little road noise

I'm bored of the soft sidewalls on mine tbh, they'll be staying on the winter wheels next summer!

If anyone finds a tyre that has the wet grip of rainsports, but without the noise and ridiculous sidewalls that'd be useful to know!!

I can't fault their wet grip at all but the sidewalls do my head in, as does the road noise.

bit of catch up here...

saying about the hunting on veg.....two suggestions, change fuel filter much more often...IE 2000miles max. you can get them super cheap so its not expensive.
try the penny trick...as soon as head is getting warm...30seconds or so...the oil is beginning to heat and stays that way at all temps

Nah, charged me £30 for fitting and balancing so £163 all in. Pretty good I thought.

That's about how often I change my fuel filter and it's no different on a fresh one, but what's this penny trick?

there's an easier way of doing it, take it to bits and it's pretty obvious, i'm not sure why people mess about with pennies but hey . .Smile

I've done it loads of times on mine and others cars...its quite simple.

I also normally get a dremel out and make sure the holes have decent flow coz its quite restrictive.

you also need to make sure your glowies are top notch now its getting chilly overnight. Leak off pipes too can cause issues.

Well, been doing a bit of pondering over what I'm doing with this. Haven't done anything new to it at all, just driving it and generally abusing it, never misses a beat really. Clocks died, but got a set for a tenner off danny2009 and it's good as new, needs some serious work though, wishbones are absolutely f*cked, droplinks are knocking, tracking is out, engine mounts are f*cked, rear dampers are f*cked, brake light bulbs keep going randomly, heated rear window is dead, passenger window is dead, central locking is dead, speakers are crackling like f*ck and the aux belt sounds like a stabbed squirrel but she still won't die, really not sure whether to keep it and sort the mountain of faults out or just break it and get another. It's also still running 100% pure GM soya oil, never fails to start and doesn't really feel down on power or anything, although it hunts like an absolute bastard for the first 5 minutes on a morning and pumps out clouds of black/blue smoke, as folk will remember from the morning after the xmas meet lol

All that stuff just sounds standard wear and tear. Get it sorted out and it'll be all good again. You won't get motoring any cheaper than that and a new car may still be fecked.
