Yeh nothing to worry about, leaks are only bad when you cant build pressure with an airline as its flowing out as fast as it comes in.

Cheers Darren.
I couldnt work out what to use to plug the pipes and used a screw drivers handle end, imagine my surprise when i created a bloody air powered screwdriver harpoon!
I eventually welded up a little capping pipe....much better/ safer

Haha yeah, i normally use motorbike pistons, can normally find one right size, but in this case used what was to hand!
Worth noting if possible its a good idea to do it pre turbo to test that two, as ive seen compressor housings weeping a tonne of air before around the cartridge!

I might give that a try, just a matter of fitting an intake pipe and capping it.

Bit of an update seen as though my forum input has been rather dyer recently.
The Audi has been going ok, but have been quite busy with other things etc, so has been some what neglected /daily driven etc. But still been tuning it harder and harder over time, but sadly reached the limit of the stock clutch, well we reached the torque limit some time ago, but have been getting around it by using rpms, but after the last stint of tuning (dropping the pipe reading to weld up 4inch straight pipe) it has resulted in a hike in power / torque across the rev range, which has resulted in the clutch getting raped, and now simply impossible to drive unless you turn the power down.
I cant remember what i last posted, but the car is basically now running a 12mm 6 cylinder VE, with homemade injectors with larger nozzles / removed the pilot injection, so basically running big old school singer poppers, which sound like a tractor, but make good clean power. Turbo is a third gen GTB2260VK, and various other bits and bobs here and there, but other than the mtdi convertion and turbo, engine is largely stock.
Random video which kinda captures the clutch problems , problem is alot worse now, but gives you the idea.
http://youtu.be/lRi_mGRiGYc
Ive been having a problem with an oil leak on the turbo oil return, due to the stupid vag solid steel design, so made the decision to fix that as MOT is coming up, and quite frankly fed up with topping the oil up, its just been put off time and time again due to the farce involved in stripping it. So started stripping that, but in the end came to the conclusion I didnt like the vag design, and want to just weld the hole in the block shut, and run my own return to the sump, coupled with the fact the clutch wasnt mann enough, and an exhaust gasket was blowing, I decided to pull the engine out:
Front end stripped (this process is now almost faster than stripping a 306, amazing how you get used to farcing with cars)
Yanking the sucker out with Chris:
On the floor, tis a big old lump:
And where she once came from:
As you can see, engine really is in a state, mainly simply down the the fact its just been a budget lol build from day 1, and pretty much 0 pounds of budget has gone into parts unless they effect performance.
So plans really while engine is out is to clean it up, change some gaskets that are weeping, repair a few issues, fab up the oil return, change the clutch, looking at getting a paddle made up, as cant see a stock clutch being hugely better even if new. Biggest problem ive got is now the motors on the floor, the ongoing airflow problem is right in your face / just asking to be sorted with bigger manifolds / collectors / then do the heads while its apart. But must resist this, as this car is not for spending money on!! Just want to tidy it up / bring back the super reliability, as with it leaking oil / raping the clutch, its become a problem really to use....

can't beat the noise of a 6 banger, well unless its a 8 banger etc.
But even still mech controlled tdi lump is such an achievement.
You got this on the Audi forums? would like to see the reaction to the VE pump.

Nah dont use any vag forums, cant stand vag tbh, only working on this as its uncles / for fun really. cant squeeze a 6 banger into the 306 and cant afford to drop a x30D motor in a 505

Met a pretty interesting guy the other day that fabricates all sorts, usually land rover and 4x4, but anything really. had a morris minor with a 2l fiat twin cam in he'd just made all the exhaust manifolds up on looked really good job if you want me to put you in contact? in st day before orchards.

Darren you want to try working on a jeep cherokee liberty crd, half of the engine is in the bulk head practically! a proper bitch to get access to sensors!
I have just replaced the crank senor, a proper bitch putting the car back together.

That's an AFB engine - so 150hp... Last time I went in it it was a good 220-230+ but from the sounds of things, the power has been hiked somewhat.

Was hoping to throw it on the dyno up roche this week, but the clutch said no, hence tore the motor out but will get a paddle in it, and let her rip and see what she will do!

Meh not really "hoping" for anything.
The motor has a huge ammount more potential than what i am really releasing due to so many restriction, mainly within intake / exhaust, but not going to through money at it much more.
It will be what it is...given the weight of the car, and how well it goes, it must be fairly up there id imagine.

Fair enough, you must have a rough idea of what your "expecting" then rather then "hoping" for!
I'll guess at around 240 bhp / 450 lbft.

The torque levels are insane off that motor, she's not what you might call "revvy"
1800rpm - oops, lit the front axle up in 4th...

Looks out drivetrain, this time you will be feeling the torque!
Just a typical CG paddle like i used on the DT / alot use on here. Only specced it with springs this time to try and retain the oem+
