You can do a really pikey turbo setup if your handy with a welder for under a grand. Really easy to turbo, even the standard internals on a jp4 like mine can handle about 200 bhp on standard internals with an appropriate head gasket.
Spend a couple of grand on forged internals and 300bhp is easily achievable with aftermarket ecu and higher capacity injectors. Basically....

JP4's have skirt jets it's not really the power that limits you, it's the boost and obviously how it's built....

Only just starting to realise how small a 106 is. Makes a 206 look massive!

The clutch failing won't have anything to do with the power mate, it's only an extra ~30bhp and ~25lbft...
But there is NO way the standard clutch will hold the power if you turbo it!

The diff's are common for exploding on VTR's, and they're 90/98bhp LOL

Turbo conversion will commence in the new year. Thinking over options and decided that the most likely route to take will be a single turbo setup using a t25/td04 kind of size just to get it up and running with a 250 bhp sort of figure being the aim then once everything is sorted and running strong it will be time for twin turbo. Lots of things to think about like what gearbox to use to make the most of the dramatic increase in torque and power, probably a Be box with uprated clutch and a quiafe diff to match.
With manifold, turbo, cams, possibly forged pistons and decompression measures, mapping and uprated components I can hopefully have a sub 300bhp rallye on the road for under 2 grand/a months wages
And just to make this a more interesting update, here's an old picture from a previous owner
