Off topic isn't exactly uncharted territory on this forum....
And I have to say, the minis have a sublime chassis and the jcw models are actually epic. Shame I couldn't be seen dead in one... But still

I had a 306 once, worst car I've ever owned.
Yet I'm still on a 306 forum... go figure.

Aha, Love the Golf, Big bumpers ftw. Not a massive fan of the small bumper mk2
Your car has seen more engines than Steve's MG has seen headgaskets!
I find the French forums are more 'racecar' than ours, so I still hang about on Saxperience and now here..

Eugh i hate the whole 'dub' scene. Don't get me wrong i use to own a lower than low Passat, but the mk2 golf is one of the nimblest, best handling hatches ever (in my opinion), so why ruin it with silly lows and six foot wide wheels?!

Yeah, but....................
.....................a GTi6 would have it in the twisties, and on the straights.

Couldn't agree more.
The mk2 golf shouldn't be 'stanced'
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hater of the whole dub thing, I think they look the business.. But I don't understand why you would do it. I have had a stanced Polo 6n2 and a lupo.. but It never really felt right, so I sold them and moved on..
I just look for a clean simple lightweight nimble car, and the Polo on coilovers is all of the above. Along with 35mpg

I agree, if the golf is being driven by an AID riddled chimp and the 306 by Senna.
Once the golf has an engine in it from the same era as the 6, it'll out perform one simples.

And I don't see the fascination with 306's. Has one, it was wank, driven Ru's regularly, it's wank but it can bring a smile to my face (no that I'd admit that to him).
I'm not marque loyal, I despise most modern cars, especially peugeots, VAG crap is a little better. But give me a mk2 golf 205/309 anyday.
