Well its back together and running, clutch is a lot better......... But its still howling like f*ck, so that rules the clutch & box out, gota be a wheel bearing right? but it spins fine and cant seem to feel any play in it??? is this even possible
well any way as I stupidly thought it was all going to run fin it it was going to be happy days, I treated the state to coilies, clones & pressed plates
03-08-2013, 09:13 PM
still howling?
so when you driving it doesnt change when you pop it in neutral?! Wishes for more power...

Jack the car up spin the wheel and hold the spring at the same time if it vibrates possible wheel bearing or could be drive shaft as mine was humming before it went

this howling...did it start when you changed the rear beam, or was it already there??
defo need to do sumit exciting with the clones...looks a bit boring Wishes for more power...
04-08-2013, 07:35 AM
no it was fine for a while James then all of a sudden it started and gt worse quickly.. sounds like front passenger side. what were you thinking?
It might well be shaft sam.. did yours get worse fast? within a few miles? yes kent 205s coilie right down
04-08-2013, 07:41 AM
I much prefer it on the 'clones tbh!
As for howling, yes bearings can go without any 'feelable' play, both became really loud on my estate but couldn't find any issues with the wheels jacked up....

cheers Tomm i think so too
going to grab a hub & shaft later see if that works

try driving it, engine off, gets rids of a lot of noise, should be able to pinpoint it then.

you should get a knocking with driveshaft. they are rare to hum/whine
Wishes for more power...

turns out it was the wheel bearing. got it off, still no noticeable play spins freely, tiny bit of grease around it, really odd, swapped for a spare hub and its stopped now so it must have been that,
but now the ABS light is on! ffs this car really doesn't like me!!!!!! feel free to donate the mini lites RD, , would love them for this but bank manager says no |
