Anyone else a doorman here?

Basically I've been working the doors for 8 months now in 2 rough clubs in a small town near me, had a few slaps and this and that which I can deal with having boxed for 7 years along with Muai Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Few weeks ago something happened with one of guys who work on the doors with me, cut the story short he had a hiding and had to have 6 titanium plates in his face.. he was the only person on the front door that night.

Think it's time I got some type of insurance, what do you have? or which do you guys think I should get?

Mtfu if you are doing that kind of job you should expect it now and then. Not that you deserve it exc but you will always get a twat who will think he is big no matter what its part of the job IMO if you cant accept that it may happen to you then you are in the wrong job. This is just my opinion but I'm not normal in the head and don't give a f*ck lol

I've worked in a club and I've seen the bouncers getting a pasting.
For no reason as well. The bouncers are usually decent people and someone has to do the job. Someone I know is only doing it for extra money and is a Chef by trade. Fair play to you for doing it man and I have thought about getting my licence.

It tbh yeah, insurance is a good idea IMO

Not trying to be harsh at all but IMO it comes with the job you will always get some twat who thinks he's the big I am and will try it on with doormen just because that think they can. Insurance is prob a good idea but I don't see how you can get insured if I'm honest as it is inevitable that at some point as a bouncer you will get hurt this is from my opinion from where I live but in general you will get chavs where ever you go

spike has a bit of a point....like being s soldier but being surprised when you get shot...

however insurance still isnt a bad idea....if the bad result may end in you not being able for you to provide for yourself or your family then its smart

...but it will be expensive.

A good family friend runs doors in in my local town and some surrounding places ! As in not only on the door hisself but has a team working for him! Staff turnover is really high as some people get f*cked up and leave! and others that he gets rid of because they are just wannabe hard men that want to flex there muscles and or sell gear on his doors lol

He's been doing it over 20 years and has been in various positions that meant he couldn't work for a while!!

Though as said I think it's like a soldier wanting insurance! I can ask what he does if you like

Insurance will be expensive, make sure the club has good CCTV so that the police can catch whoever does it then sue the f*ckers when it goes to court.

As for getting hurt it dosen't matter how hard you are , its all about your communication skills. If your on the door cos you like proving your hard, flexing your muscles and showing off your ninja skillz then your always gonna get into fights. Defusing a situation before it becomes a situation is best bet and just remember that at the end of the day its only a job, number one priority is going home alive.

I think people need to take a step back and realise in the UK we aren't 'bouncers' anymore we don't get paid to hit people or get hit, bouncers were usually tough people and known for it. Door supervisors however don't get paid to be hit by people or to give people a slap when they misbehave.

People say 'comes with the job' it actually doesn't, the course the SIA set is there for people to calm a situation down by talking someone down, rather than give it the big one and throw them out..

The reason I picked to be a doorman, the money is great and I don't drink anyway.. I work through the week then work weekends on the doors for some cash to treat my baby like a princess. I just wanted some advice on what insurance would be good for my situation incase something does happen then my baby goes without.

soldiers do get insurance... ive got insurance... the more levels i pay for the more i get in return. currently got 1 level and its 15quid a month and covers me for everything

£15 a month I could deal with no problem was that sorted out for you or did you sort it yourself?

To the OP - specialist insurers will cover anything for the right premium. Speak to a local broker who can point you in the right direction/get you a quote

This ^^ not very nice when you have 3 people that wanna kick your teeth out and your the only 1 haha. Def make sure theres cctv though, otherwise I wouldnt do it for love nor money

I'm a doorman was head doorman at liquid at Rotherham for few months before it closed and worked alot of bars and clubs in Rotherham and mexborough and leeds and Olympics! I'm liking this forum more and more gym threads and doorman threads any xbox ones? Haha

Choke them no marks just enough pressure to shock them into dropping and changing their mind of starting always a chance of hitting some poor sod and breaking his jaw and then game over badge gone! Always handing knowing some law to grow at drunk customers about breaking law being drunk on a licensed premises and trespassing when refusing to leave! hold my hands up iv thrown down with a few sted heads and fights when someone attacks one of my boys we all went in! In most cases CCTV won't help in July 2010 (early days on doors 20yo) I got jumped by four lads on the front door after management signed the only other lad on with me off on a Sunday cause it was quiet but things took a turn for the worst. Police knew where the lads were and caught there car license plate on CCTV and did nothing! All u got is your knowledge fists and team.

This is all IMO guys. I see my self as a very very good alert knowledgable door supervisor with alot of skills iv learnt and still more I'd love too learn from new staff I meet.

Not really putting yourself in a situation by trying to look after staff and customers alike? Just a job end of day. Just like a cashier selling u a faulty item even though there just as much in the know as u are and then copping for it for manufacturers mistake? get my angle? Insurance with companies iv been with is for covering legal costs i.e solicitors loss of wages new uniform dental fees and etc etc.

Back on topic the company he's with with should have employee liabilty insurance whether he's had to contribute to it (like I did 6 quid per week) or not he should be covered to have legal representation for claim for his distress and pain/loss of wages and normal functionality! Tell him its well worth talking to someone I'm in my final stages of my claim and its looking bright after 2-3 years of letters and court hearing. Hope it helps mate.

Had so many chances to get into G4S but never taken them because of the bad reputation they have, along with the fact they take on and lay off all the time!

I REALLY wanna do my CP license when I have abit more money, but heard its hard to get into unless you have an ex-forces background.
