After reading the thread on theywhoshallnotbenamed, perhaps it would be a good idea to say that the £385 is plus vat, instead of end price, save confusion and people thinking theyre cheaper then they are, cos with vat on £385 is £462incl. VAT, a sizeable difference.
Dont get me wrong, its still a great price, just make it clearer for members

We have to pay VAT on everything - thought that was a given?
So for clarification - it's £385+ VAT... that will come down even further if we get more on board.
The standard price for these is around £650+ VAT, so £780ish... you are saving 50%

I know its a given, but go into a shop and buy a can of coke, the price wont say 50p on the shelf and when you go to the till be expected to pay 60p because of VAT, the price quoted usually includes this, only time i see prices at plus vat are in wholesalers books etc who dont have to, and seeing as most if not all members on here are private enthusiasts who would be expected to pay VAT, you may aswell make the price clear cut for them.
Just saying as some mebers may of thought the 385 was all inclusive, better to be clear about things

I thought it was vat inclusive, but still a good price.
If we get more people involved they'll be even cheaper!

Right guys, it's getting close to having the final spec drawn up, and paying the deposit to get these made.
Anyone else who is interested, this is your LAST chance - as we will not be buying spares.
Remember, if you do this yourself in the future it will be £680 + VAT!

Met up with the company who are making these when I was at autosport the other day. He said the rod it in the workshop, and he's started taking measurements etc but it was put on hold due to autosport - fair enough.
Should have measurements and need to pay the deposit by the end of the week... this really will be the last chance to get onboard!

Right guys - They are working on the specs as we speak, need to start collecting deposits though as I'm keen to move this forward AS SOON as we can.
As I don't know the final price yet, and it may come down if we get 10+ onboard is everyone happy with £240 deposit, then the balance to pay before they are shipped, with the balance being a maximum of £222 but probably less?
Paypal is fine, (please send to james@jamespickering.co.uk as a gift, or to at least cover the costs for your protection), bank transfer is fine (PM me for details), cheque is fine (subject to clearing times, PM for address) we just need to make a move on this!
As a note, PayPal also lets you add funds via credit card - as I know that's how a few of you want to do it.
Thanks,
JP

Hi,
Just keeping you all updated with what's going on here.
Been on the phone to the company today and think I may have twisted there arms for a few more quid off - but can't say how much or if it's definite yet as I'm not sure!!
Anyway, main news is that we've come to a design we are happy with which (thanks to Dave Ha11) we know will work with a stock engine block etc etc. This design will give us SIGINIFICANTLY more metal around both the big and little end, as well as being in a H beam pattern and forged.
The rods will come complete with an uprated "ARP style" high tensile stud and nut assembly on the big end, which will be around 25% fatter than a stock rod bolt...
Sorry to keep you waiting guys,
More soon!
