#1
Wink
Yea with a big thanks to Niall and DeeTurbo I now have a fully functioning D8 trip computer working in the 6, Niall should be along with a nice guide for you all in the next couple of days.

Sorry for the crappy video but its just rested in the dial opening and the wires twisted together for now.
Will have it all fitted up properly tomorrow I hope.

No because scotch locks are seriously pikey! Its simple to do mate. I will do the guide tomorrow but i reckon no more than an hours work (minus fab work to make the screen look pretty in the dash)

Cut one wire behind the clocks and solder 2 more onto existing wires.
For the clock wiring i used a old clock plug and added the wires to that so its plug and play.
Just a matter of running the wire from the ecu into the car then.

SCOTCH LOCKS = FAIL

I tried using them when I was trying it out the first time and I had nothing but problems with them.

No. Its widely known that they are a shit pikey way of doing things that can result in damaged wires and damaged kit depending on whats plugged in. Man up and solder them (just dont melt your jacket with the soldering iron!)

And fitted, just a little more filler work and some paint to do.
Also need to run the ecu wire through the bulkhead properly when I get time.

Looking good mate. Are you going to get a clock from a 406 to stick somewhere?

Hmmm I might do. Wonder if there's any room in the dials between the speedo and rev counter.

The 406 clock looks small in the dash but the unit is quite big. I was thinking of using one also.

Looking good though Chris. The fascia cut nice and looking like it will be very tidy when complete.

Danny its easy mate. Most difficult bit is what chris has done above. getting it to look good in the dash.

Why does it matter. You don't buy a gti6 for economy

True, phill but it would be nice to know the sweet spots for economy especially on long motorway runs.. I don't really enjoy driving fast on the motorway anyway.. In the 6 its too noisy anyway haha
