XBOX 360

Hi guys,

Well, I've got some Xmas money to use, and don't really want to 'waste' it on boring stuff like car insurance or diesel. Got £400 plus some Amazon vouchers, so gonna go with the old 'spend half/save half' thing I think.

And I dont really have anything to do at home (so when I cant afford the fuel to go out am just bored as fuuuuuuck lol, literally sit at the PC switching between 306oc and facebook)...which gets boring after a few hours lol.

So was thinking about getting another 360. However it's been 2 years since mine broke, so I've no idea what games are good these days, or what features they have now (I read earlier they all have built in wifi??) so looking for some advice really.

I never replaced mine cos I got bored of playing it, and games like Far Cry were making me feel ill with blood/killing people and scary background music lol. Back in the day (2008, between revising for GCSEs lol Itwasntme ) used to play a lot of COD4 and Assassins creed - what are the newer ones of these like?

Also does anyone know of any good deals currently on the consoles, dont want the konnect thing but I dont really know what I do want lol, like hard drive size or whatever.

Don't like alien games, found Halo incredibly boring.

And any ideas what my current one is worth spares/repair? Still have the box/cables etc, just the graphics that broke but I tried fixing it twice and gave up. Better to get a replacement with warranty IMO.

Budget is £200 ideally.

So yeah, any guidance or advice on the above?

Cheers!
Tom

The "new" slims are much better, quieter and they do have built in wireless yeah. Make sure you get the larger one though, the 4GB one will fill up too quick. There's probably some good deals about nowadays, I paid like £250 when they came out after mine red ring'd.

Blops 2 is pretty good and apart from the once again awful stabbing, me and my partner are currently addicted to zombies (although that might be a bit scary from your post Tongue). Forza Horizon is also a good one which is bit of a more arcade-y departure from the more serious sims.

When mine went a few years ago, I got £75 advertised as faulty. That was complete with everything including bags and box.

End of the day, they're never going to please everyone

Ah ok cheers.

I take it the 'new' ones are the only ones they'll be selling atm anyway, so I can't get them mixed up lol. And I'll try and get a 250GB one then, I think thats the bigger one.

I had black ops and was OK but I never was a fan of the zombies lol (too much like aliens I guess, I'd rather be killing real people.... lol ). As for the 'scary' thing, it's not actually killing people/things that gets me, it's the realisticness of the blood spurting all over that I don't like, especially in far cry.

I didn't like the original Forza as it was too realistic, preffered need for speed, although that was coming from my PS2 days really. I might give the new forza a go though, as I know a few people on here play it onlne too.

I doubt I'd get £75 for a broken xbox now lol, thats definitely not a bad price!

Cool, pretty sure I'd go for assassins creed again tbh (long as they havent ruined it lol) as thats how I roll....hiding inconspicuously in the shadows. ninja Big Grin

A what now? Nah, they ruined them after the PS2!! Tongue

Plus I don't need/want blu ray tbh. Free online play is the only thing that appeals about the PS3, but iirc, XBL is only like £30 a year or something anyway, not exactly much. Smile

Forza has moved on substantially since the first tom. Ive got forzaa 4 and you still have the realistic aspects like the real tracks, cars etc but you can also be very unrealistic (like i have a micra pushing almost 600bhp with two turbos and a rear wheel drive conversion bolted on)

Haha, sounds awesome! Big Grin It was the realistic driving that I didn't like though, I mean you couldn't use too much power or understeer/oversteer in NFS unless you really tried to. Maybe now I drive in real life I'll prefer the realisticness though.....

If you have any friends who work in retail, specifically electronics, ask them if they are on Expertzone.

As a 'specialist', I am able to order: 250GB Console, Kinect, 3 Months Gold Subscription, 4200 Points & 3 Games all for £180 delivered. (Brand new & boxed etc.)

The same offer will be available to any of your friends if they are registered.

Make sure you get one with more than a 4gb or 20gb hard drive as some games require you to install stuff.

I switched from PS3 to X360 a couple of months back and have loved every minute.

Currently battering into Resi 6 and Dark Souls, already rattled through Borderlands 2, Arkham City and, erm, another one, can't remember it. Oh aye, Assassins' Creed 2. Assassins Creed is fun for the first few hours, then it gets repetitive, hide, stab, run, hide, stab run.

If I had friends I wouldn't need an xbox... lol

But seriously, no I don't know anyone in electronic retail. Thats a damn good deal though!

Well seeing as I don't drink, and wouldn't even know which port to use with a hooker, neither of those would be applicable really.

And going on holiday would only last a week, thats a bigger waste imo.

I see what you're saying, but it's not gonna happen while I'm here anyway. Although I am still wondering if this is a wise choice, or whether to save the money till I can move out. Confused

Morrisons do the 250GB one with Forza 4 and skyrim for £169 atm. Seems like the best deal atm.

But I'm not so sure now. Seen the new games are like £40 each.........thats just over a week of diesel or a disc....hmm.... Undecided

Games are £40 if you buy them brand new and when they first come out.

You can get them cheaper !
On the 306 waiting list.

Don't be such a fanny and go and buy something you may actually enjoy.

As said games are only stupid money when they come out, have a hunt on eBay. Although games like CoD and Skyrim do hold their value well

Black ops 2 is £32 at game.
Look at tesco they're usually cheaper for newer games. Mrs got me 6 games for Christmas alternating between tesco asda game and argos as some where much cheaper! Also look on eBay for games. My dad usually pays £20-30 for his.

The games drop in price quite quickly, especially online so within weeks some are down to £30.

£30 is still a lot! Especially if I buy a game and don't like it.

I dunno, maybe its more sensible just to save the money for now.
