Looking at that I would cut it up. Rent a large grinder not a sthil saw a 240 jobbie should be cheaper than a sthil saw.
Edit - Brandon hire £26 per day.

Damn FBW Golf throttle....
Is that the best way though? Thought I'd be able to lift it with a chisel all the way round* but it didn't even budge!
*I was wearing the correct PPE for this before anyone says!

Lift it with a screwdriver or whatever then tread the wire through and rub it. Like dental floss.
Or just cut it out with the rental saw.

doubt it'd smash as such, it's laminated, not toughened.

my dad cut the mgf shell into pieces with a large angle grinder. he cut it up into 6 pieces. my local metal yard came and took it away.
make sure nothing is near the sparks as it will burn glass! my dad didnt follow that rule and his car window as a few metal filings burnt into the glass. also when cutting buy good discs too! my dad bought machine mart ones and they were dangerous. they broke or flew off the grinder due to the centre piece falling out.
or just hire a car transporter and winch the shell on to it and take it down.

Just phone around the scrap yards, one of them will have a guy with a truck who does a bit on the side weighing cars in. You won't get anything but it's hassle free. It's hardly throwing money away if you have to spend £40 to make £50.
give the fucker away and it'll be gone in 2 days. I've never ever factored in making any money from a shell as it's too much trouble to expect someone to come to your house, when it'll cost his truck about £10 in diesel, and expect to pay you for the privilege too.

How much?? Pfft, they need a bosched XUD on veg then.....
As I've said, I can get it picked up for free. But £50 is a week of diesel for me, thats why I'm trying to save it.

Well, thanks for the input everyone, I'm scrapping the loom, brake lines, heatshields and ac pipes amongst other things tomorrow so will ask them to collect the shell while I'm there. Saves messing about as I need the space now lol.
Also, are ac pipes made of aluminum?

If your local scrappy wont pay out to pick it up, then ring someone else!!
There are hundreds of "dodgy" scrap guys around, they wont pay you full scrap value obviously, its normally about half, but saves the hassle of having to tow it there yourself...normally just turn up with flatbed with hi lift and load it etc and give you 60-100 quid depending on what mood there in...

Yeah well round where you are, the pikeys might do a better job but if you give it to most round here, the car will never be de registered.

They are really cracking down on that now. They don't want individuals breaking cars any more. I've done a few now and the last I did without a COD, they tried telling me that they would not de register it without a COD. Eventually I had to argue with her manager to basically say how can I get one when I don't know where the shell has gone? It's been scrapped but I don't know where!

Slice the insulation off the loom or melt it off, thats a load of copper for scrap, then weigh in the ally AC pipes

Have you seen the golf loom? Id be there for weeks stripping insulation!
I just cut the plugs off and left it at that, also scrapped the AC pipes and ally heatshields. £14.
I was expecting to wiegh the brake lines in as well, thought were copper but they're magnetic so steel!! Will wait and get it all together before scrapping iron/steel as its worth sod all tbh.
Also got them to come and collect the shell so thats going tomorow and they'll sort the V5 as well.
