Pros: smells nicer than diesel, cheap, and cleans all the sh*t out of your fuel system.
Cons: cold starts are a pain in the arse, more hassle to fill messing around with funnels, loses power over about 3.5k because the pump struggles to move the thick oil.

basically whats been said
pros : cheap, cleans all gunk from fuel lines, more envirorementally friendly, cons : cleans all the gunk out of fuel lines, can end up with lots of recycling to do, bastard to clean of the side when you spill it, loses power, the more tuned you are the more you notice it, cold starts can be a pain Midnightclub Wrote:All the cool kids have ph 2 Nile 6's!

It smells like a greasy chip shop! :yuk:

pros
summer time 100% veg maximum saving cons winter 20-30% mix veg/deano/petrol minimum saving
02-11-2012, 10:08 AM
Cully, you only need to mix 5-10% petrol max.

pro's: cheap as chips, cleans lines, zero carbon footprint
cons: does't go as far, harsher on seals can cause them to seep, smell can be overpowering, increased use of fuel filter elements, this is from personal experience and i've gone back to pump diesel after a stint as i don't want to have to change seals to veg safe ones lol
Don't worry about what I'm doing, I want you to worry about what you're doing

Love the smell! Cold starting has yet to be a problem in 5degree weather! Agree with jake about having to explain to everyone how it wont break the car -.-
Doesnt even own a 306.

Even in cold weather it'll still run on pure veg, it'll just hunt like mad.
On Dave's advice I'm running about 30% diesel, 65% veg, 5% petrol/2stroke and it runs pretty well even in the cold weather.

pros: cheap as chips baby, lovely smell on sunflower, eco friendly, cleans lines out, makes me feel smug . .talking point for the girls (they think it's amazballs!) . . . .
Cons: . . . . hunts on cold starts, loses power up top end when cold and dicking about filling up . . . . summation: . . . do it bitches! . . .

So y does it knacker lucas pumps up then?
It doesn't seize them up, it's a lubricant like any other oil. Problem is it munches the seals, something to do with being more acidic or having less sulfates than pump diesel, something like that anyway lol.
02-11-2012, 04:45 PM
It can lock up a Lucas, they can't handle the thickness of cold veg so on a cold morning it could lock up the pump and strip or snap the cambelt...
