Sticky residue in Bosch LDA
#1
Anyone else found this after running veg? I'm back on fossil diesel anyway.

Gave it all a clean but just thought i'd ask here if it's normal or not

I know it is VERY exciting when your playing around with a Bosch pump and usually I can hold it in but sometimes it just gets too much and I usually leave sticky residue around the LDA on my car too
I just can't help it and I would have thought it is not just us
So its maybe not normal but were only human :-)

Probably the seal between the fluid part of the pump and the lower lda housing is weeping slightly, letting veg get onto your lda and dry out/go sticky, which is the residue you are getting. The seal will get progressively worse over time, but will probably be fine for year or so. They dont tend to leak too badly really, alot just seep for years and years. Keep an eye on it once a month or so though, and check that the lower lda housing (under the diaphragm) isnt filling right up with veg/diesel. If it is pull your pin right out and use thin strips of kitchen roll to soak the fluid up.

Sounds like seal is just starting to go bad like Dan said, no big issue, only worry when it gets bad enough that fuel is constantly running out the breather port on the side!

Yes easy to change while on the car Smile

cool i was thinking of buying a spare pump to learn how to mod it off the car i may do that and get seal kit and learn how to gov mod all at once.

Thanks everyone

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Vauxhall-...2575d7fa7c would that be a suitable seal kit?
