Questions about TD04L

Hello every one I am new here really just sum Qs about td04l turbo because my mate can't get his head around putting a td04 on to a xud engine with out it smashing the engine up really

How many peeps have td04 turbos on there engine and what mods do you have to the engine ?

How much psi are you running it at ?

Why do you dewast gate the turbo if so is it safe too ?

And last one how long have you bin running td04 turbos.

I had a td04 on mine, running roughly 40-45psi of boost, it was on for about 2 months, sold it, and its still on and running now.

Dewastegate it as its alot easier to get it down the back.

You should really get the LDA ground and the gov modded to fuel higher for longer. Which is better suited to the td04

The most common way is dewastegated and the boost controlled by your right foot
There are quite a few people running them and AFAIK mark fairey has had his the longest? Which is a good few months now and its defiltered

Seems most people run them up to 30-40psi

Im running one in the silver zx with a wastegate installed, plenty of room down the back.

Bolt it on and run it, if it pops, stick another one on or try a different turbo Smile

I dont know anyone who's running one for prolonged periods of time pushing 40psi :S Thats not really a safe boost tbh...

Dave would know about what boost kills the XUD lmao
I've been running my K04 (similar to a TDO4L) for about 4-5 months at 30psi. I'm very mechanically sympathetic though, always let it warm up, always keeping an eye on temps and never really rag it for long periods. I also feed the throttle in gentle most of the time to avoid bogging the engine. Basically it's an engine running nearly double stock power, don't expect it to last forever.

Phil I think Marks on a new lump now with Hdi rods.

But yeah most people keep it around 30psi anyway which is more than enough.

Pompeymarks T25 pulled very well even at 15psi. Since been cranked up. They're good turbo's

It kept up with Eli's '6 at 22psi. But the '6 had 3 people in TBF

So if I use td04l with welded wastgate and hdi conrods with fmic and Bosch pump I can easy get to 150bhp and will it be safe and last with out smashing a conrods. And if I can get a wastgate to fit it will make it safer to rag about with out the worry of the engine going bang Wink

You can almost get 150hp with just a transit pump lol, so with all that you should be more.

I managed 169.9bhp with exhaust manifold held on by 3 bolts and f*cked lda pin so u should easily piss 150
