Watch out as some will cancel both persons NCB in the event of an accident as your both on One policy
One of you crashes you'll both lose NCB unless the policy says you won't be effected in the even of the other person on the policy having a crash

multi CAR insurance not multi person Tongue

basically want a second car for fun as the 6 just doesn't go sideways, put a thread up to sell it, which I will if someone wants it, but realised if I could have a multi car policy for not a lot more I could have my fast car and my sideways car Big Grin

I can just see the insurance company charging for my 6 cost + drift spec cost and calling it one policy, because they are lady gardens

Tried classic insurance? If your with a decent broker they'll take into account the fact that you can't drive both cars at the same time so only one will be on the road at any given time an cut you a good deal. When my AX GTI was playing up I bought a Maestro to run around in for a few weeks, that was an extra 7 quid a month iirc

kernow, insurance companies wont do multi pol if one car is standard and the other is modded,
what i did, i belled brentacre and asked if they did a mirror noclaims, they said yeah and did me a quote on my rover metro mirroring the noclaims off the 306.
which gave me a custom car policy for the metro. that way if the metro got wrote off the 306 is safe and so is my noclaims or vice versa.
i put the metro down for 3000 miles year. i think i have only done about that with in the year of putting on the road. 2000 miles last year and i think under a 300 this year.

Hmm, Brentacre mirrored your NCB? I'll remember that when I get a Eunos, I'm with them Smile

yeah they did liam, capped the car on bhp, but said i could do what the f*ck i wanted to the interior, but a exhaust system on, air filter etc, but as long as i dont up the bhp on the engine from the capped amount. which they said was 150 bhp.
flux wont play ball on mirroring sadly.

Flux wanted 1400 to insure a standard 205 Dturbo, got it insured for 700 and my 306 in insured for 450,

They said the same to me with mods as well, 130 bhp on the XRDT. That's why I renewed again, been with them 2 years and just renewed for a 3rd Smile

my pal, decided to put his mini and vectra on a multi car policy. hes paying well over 1500 quid!
for that i could have a 3rd car insured, as my HDi costs 469 fully comp, metro 460 tpft,
i have one years noclaims on the metro now, the price has just stayed the same, the 306 has nearly 8 years noclaims on it, that has just say got into the mid 400s as it was in the 500s.

hmm maybe my insurance isn't too bad £550 for the gti and the other car was going to be around the same,
still for 2 I wouldn't want to be paying more than 750 maybe 800, got other things to pay too

I'm paying £500 on the XRDT and I've been quoted £220 on a Eunos on classic, not bad for round here really.

I dony know who was quoting you procta? But i had my DT insured as STD and declared mods on my gti. And i payed less for both of them than what my renewal was for just my 6 so to insure two cars. So ueah multi cars can me very cost effective. Now iv moded my Dt and my 6 so both declared it only works out somthimg like £100 a year more than the 6 on its own. Also if you go with admeral they will insure both an defurr the second cars insurence untill the current policy runs out therefore making it cheaper again as your ony payin 5 6 7 8 months insurences what ever it may be. Also you will get a years NCB for for the few months youv had the 2nd one insured. Win win if you ask me. Its defo better than 2 seperate policies.

Also with ademral if you crash one it dosnt effect the NCB on the other Smile

So spoke to my insurance company this morning, they wont add a second car permanently to my policy but they will give me a discount on taking a second car out with them and mirror my NCB.

So looking at a standard SLDT sedan insured for 9000 miles a year was £500 for 12 months with a £250 excess.

Bear in mind that the price comparison sits wanted about £800 for the same and im paying about £750 for the GTi6 for a year for 12000 miles, hopefully Ill see a discount when I drop it down to 3000 miles a year.

Are you 25 Chris? I know from a mate that Peter Best or Footman James will insure his 205 D Turbo as a classic for around £150 a year...

The general rule seems to be 20 years, but if a cars rare or special in some way they'll take newer cars. My mate has 2 on classic cover, a '93 205 and a '96 Escort Cosworth. Also know a lad who's got a '91 Golf GTI on classic too, and the quotes I've got have been for my mates '93 Eunos.

iam with flux for the metro and brentacre for the 306, last year it was kris knott for the 306 and brentacre for the metro,
the Hdi is insured as standard, the metro has all mods declaired.
the thing is puglove, the metro has got a engine converstion, so not many insurance companies will touch it, so in way depends on how far you gonna go with the second car really.
