I know i've seen people with this problem before, but can't remember what the problem is.
Just started up my HDi and the rev and mph dial shot up and stayed at top for a few seconds then went to idle. Haven't driven the car for a few days, and there was a lot of rain yesterday so hope this is a one off.
Any ideas what may be the cause?
Thanks
John

Think it was something to do with the battery being flat, as you hadn't used it maybe it was low on power?

Well if its something simple like that, im not too worried. Better pop the jump leads in the car just incase.

Yeah it does sound like low battery... My old DT used to go from 0 to redline constantly, occasionally stopping to show me what it was actually doing or would have a break and do nothing at all.

battery voltage drops too low on start up and the car registers battery disconnection, even though it still starts lol..
mine did it a few weeks ago after i'd been playing with the stereo for a while

slap a load of grease over the terminals especialy if you hava a amp wired in.... it helps lower voltage discharge,
