dumdum severely sound you had your brakes hot enough to boil the fluid... I wouldn't be surprised if you've boiled the moisture in them from having older fluid, not not full on boiling the fluid itself. Unless you were using water...

doubt away mate, it was the GTi6 set up with new mintex pads and discs that were bled through with new fluid by the garage when they were fitted. After ragging for quite a while I had that shit no brakes foot going to the floor feeling.

CJM car looks awesome. I've read your build thread on GTi6 forum before and love the car. Not so sure about the pink stickers, but at least you're in touch with your feminine side I guess...

That's a bit worrying dude, I had a similar problem years ago on the XS after upgrading the MC, turned out the O-ring seal wasn't in good condition and once the brakes got warm the pedal feel went shit. Might be worth checking out because it will slowly lose fluid through there, but it's not very noticeable.. Will need to be re-bled again obviously which is a bitch, however it would be good for peace of mind.
Disclaimer: The above is not to be taken to heart and is probably a joke, grow up you big girl.

Yes, that's boiling fluid, be surprised if there was moisture in there if you'd only just had them done, but you never know, wouldn't be the first time I've seen a dodgy bottle of brake fluid that's been on the shelf about 10 years...

Thanks for the comments guys
Dum-Dum; I've never had a problem with brake fade etc in 5 years of gti6 ownership, but then depends how you are with your brakes I guess? Or you may have a problem.
I still run standard brakes on mine, with more power. Just decent fluid, pads and braided lines

I've always run standard everything apart from uprated pads, never had an issue...
The Diesel has always run 266s with decent pads, never had fade yet, even with steelies on which are renound for roasting brakes.

I used to get fade with HDi brakes but that was on shitty halfords pads and discs, GTi6 brakes with standard mintex, never had an issue.
IMO, if you're cooking brakes on the road, you're leaving it too late and not driving properly, even regularly braking hard from very silly speeds on a twisty a-road, you'd be unlikely to see fade on a GTi set up. Trust me.

No excuse, you should of been braking less so you carry the speed through the bends

Not a lot going on with this at the minute. In the process of getting a house, so cant really spend any money on it. (Which is annoying as f*ck as want the rear beam sorting and give it some abuse on track).
Few pictures of the rear brake tidy up..
Manky old shite
Masked up..
after first coat..
and done, that'll do
And one last picture to show my tip top beam.. (no my trailing arms have NOT been machined to give me the negative camber.. lol)

Jonny,
Think I saw your car and spoke to you to? The blue s16 that at Pugfest the cage was in, but not red and not fitted. I asked about it and was told you didnt get time to fit, so was just sat in place. Not sure if that was you or not?

Little update.
Got some new speakers to replace the old/standard tat that was in there. Had no music in the car for ages now, so this is a big step up in "luxary" :laugh
new vs old
Not the best fit (from where the door card was butchered, but they seem all good.
This one really needed replacing after an incident involving the roll cage leg during fitting :doh
And one of the headunit..
Also want a bit of advice for my new battery fitment. I bought a relocation kit, but it came with standard battery terminal connectors. These need to be changed to fit my race battery, but which ones to go for?
The top one is 35-10 (already fitted to cable and seems better suited to cable)
The bottom one is 25-8 which fits better to the battery. What would you advise?
