Couple photos from the past weekend (cheers to who took them), I didn't take any...had the video camera though.
Good times all round really. Car went up the hill twice, cue all of the coal and wheelspin when WOT.
Arsed up my first run but meh, wasn't really going for timing, just seeing if the D8A was going to stick it.
Anyways....
This is how low the 309 went with three OC members sat in the rear.
Then hill photos.
Videos will be soon, just trimming them down and putting in order.

It's still about
Been in hibernation for nine months.
Video of it starting (the most boring cold start ever)
Time to get the boost plumbed back in, checked over and MOT'd.

So put the 309 up on the ramp yesterday as I knew there was an area of rust to address around the rear bumper mount.
Due to having no arch liners all the mud and water gets flicked up into this area by the back wheel.
So got the rear bumper off and got poking around and found a hole
So dug off the old flaking underseal around the area
Then had a look inside
And chopped it out a bit
Need to get in with a wire wheel or something to try and shine it up.
This is the other side which I'll address too
Also got this thing running underneath the back of the car...suspected tank breather?
The chassis runners and other metal under the underseal is solid, despite its looks, is there anything anyone can recommend to paint on it to prevent further rusting? I seem to remember Eddy C on Wheeler Dealers puts something on the metal before priming.
Also any better way of removing the underseal? I've got the majority off with a screwdriver/chisel where the moisture has got in behind has peeled off easily. Other areas its a bit more of a task. Was thinking wirewheel on a grinder?
Next is to make up a plate to sit over the hole and stitch it in

Probably wise if you're planning to keep the car - 309's were rusting out around the sides of the tank a decade ago, so it certainly warrants checking and cutting out rot or rustproofing as required.

So I did
Looks worse than it is. Its all just the factory paint/underseal flaking off and leaving the metal exposed and going rust colour. Its all solid from going round with a screwdriver poking here and there.
O/S has been patched before and looks solid around that still.
Just waiting for a set of wire wheel disc for the grinder to turn up and i'll have a hour going around it all and seeing whats what.
Will be good enough for what I want to do with it
Then time to break out the Transmig and plate some holes.

That doesn't look too bad at all to be honest - so long as the previous patch was done properly a quick clean up and rust proof should see that good for years
Worth checking and replacing the brake lines that run over the tank as well whilst it's off - if they're original then they're probably distinctly worse for wear by now, and whilst I can't remember how bad 309's are in this regard, 205's are particularly prone for rusting out the brake lines just above the fuel tank where you can't easily see/inspect them.

Probably will replace the lines in all honesty. I have some copper pipe here to use so might as well.
Previous repair just wants 'scuffing' up and repainting/sealing.
Busy weekend if nothing else gets in the way.
Can relate to the 205 brake pipes, first car I had the brake line popped over the tank, Que a steady drive home...
