Peugeot 309 HDi 16v - mr_fish - 07-05-2015 Acquired this retro bus from a favour or two. Thought it might have a one way ticket but it appears to be fairly solid from a quick look. It's a 1991 Peugeot 309 GRD, complete with electric windows, central locking, working rev counter, 78k (I think) miles and the driest XUD9 I've seen for a while. It runs very well with 60hp. Had a bit of a stripping session with the front end as unfortunately it has a bit of front end damage but I pretty hopeful I've pulled it out good enough to have it half tidy. Also jacked it up and it requires a drivers side wheel bearing (brand new one in the boot) and a passengers side TRE. Ideally a wing too, but I'll pull this one straighter for now. I'm thinking of continuing to tidy it up and dropping my XUD9 VNT engine in out the 206 for the hell of it, especially as I've now sourced and purchased the front panels to get the front end looking OEM again. Big thanks to Sam Barker and Trent so far. RE: Peugeot 309 GRD Retro Bus - MY95 - 07-05-2015 Love a 309, would be a serious weapon with your 206 engine in! RE: Peugeot 309 GRD Retro Bus - Frosty - 08-05-2015 Yes looks like Fish means business here with starting a project thread. Have to get that engine ripped out the 206 pretty sharpish if this is going to make FCS RE: Peugeot 309 GRD Retro Bus - Uberderv - 10-05-2015 Schweet Nice use of farm tools... RE: Peugeot 309 GRD Retro Bus - mr_fish - 11-05-2015 Cheers for all the comments. Today's antics Going to pressure wash the engine bay and then hopefully look to drop the new motor in. Had a few pointers, so going to swap few bits across from the original engine. RE: Peugeot 309 GRD Retro Bus - kee616 - 11-05-2015 This car has a lot of win going for it RE: Peugeot 309 GRD Retro Bus - Dum-Dum - 12-05-2015 Hope your swapping brakes over too, those 309 ones are tiny. Even though its a brand new setup on the 309's Girling calipers RE: Peugeot 309 GRD Retro Bus - THE_Liam - 12-05-2015 Yes, yes and thrice yes! RE: Peugeot 309 GRD Retro Bus - mr_fish - 12-05-2015 Got the pressure washer out and setup this evening, towed the car outside go to fire the lance at the engine bay and nothing....que spending 15 minutes repairing that. Anyways once working we had it cleaned up. Forgot to take a photo before but it wasn't that bad but this will make things easier/nicer to work with. Couple areas need a bit of attention with a paint can so think I've managed to find a couple aerosol cans of matching paint so will give it a blast over. One spanner in the works, a wheel bolt has broken off in the one of the front hub's which is annoying but my neighbour is pretty sure he can sort it. Popped over to see Jimbo and acquired a HDi box for this as well RE: Peugeot 309 GRD Retro Bus - 306Dan - 12-05-2015 So much win waiting to happen here, keep up the good work RE: Peugeot 309 GRD Retro Bus - THE_Liam - 13-05-2015 (12-05-2015, 10:01 PM)mr_fish Wrote: Got the pressure washer out and setup this evening, towed the car outside go to fire the lance at the engine bay and nothing....que spending 15 minutes repairing that.If your neighbour can't do it, I've got a set of easy-outs that will get that out no problem, and I'm coming to Cornwall in 4 weeks. Cheers Liam will keep it in mind RE: Peugeot 309 GRD Retro Bus - darrenjlobb - 13-05-2015 Shes coming together, looks fairly clean tbf under there I still say 2260 and get it down on the dyno for some tuning RE: Peugeot 309 GRD Retro Bus - Niall - 13-05-2015 Wow that bay has cleaned up surprisingly well considering its age. Look forward to seeing this progress! RE: Peugeot 309 GRD Retro Bus - mr_fish - 14-05-2015 It is surprisingly tidy, though looks like a previous battery has been leaking so need to touch that up and on the bottom of the drivers wing on the front it has rusted out but I reckon I could plate that easily. Had spare half hour last night so pulled the hub off to look at the broken wheel bolt Hardly much left in there but can't be leaving it like that. Dropped it round next door and he's going to have a look for me. Obviously I'm going to change the brakes on the thing, suppose it would be wise to change the M/C as well. It's a 19mm on there already. Been looking at different ones and would prefer to keep the standard 4 port fitment to save hassle in T'ing and changing brake lines. So any thoughts on a bigger M/C but in 4 port design? Am I right in thinking ZXs are 4 port and would potentially bolt up? RE: Peugeot 309 GRD Retro Bus - 306Dan - 14-05-2015 Some of the 406's are 4 port too worth a look RE: Peugeot 309 GRD Retro Bus - Jimbo - 14-05-2015 Looks good so far mate, still think it NEEDS some 205 speedlines on there keeping it retro Nice work RE: Peugeot 309 GRD Retro Bus - Uberderv - 14-05-2015 Is your 206 not a 4 port? I had a 206 hdi which I fitted 283mm brakes on without changing the master cylinder. Also IIRC there is something about how the 206 one mounts (bolt holes are offset or something) RE: Peugeot 309 GRD Retro Bus - pioneer DJ paddy - 14-05-2015 Looking good so far man can't wait ta see the out come of this should be fun . Maybe a video wen it's done ? :-) |
