righteo....
some of you may or may not know the fun and games of the weekend just gone.. I opened up my newly refurbed fuel pump to find the below, so did not fit it I fitted partner p-bushes, mine were really fudged! I refurbed by calipers and hopefully stopped the vibrations - zach will fit some new pads Poodle did an awesome job on the welding the passenger c pillar considering the mess, Alex did advise this is the worse he has seen. this pic was taken before i had painted the inside/undersealed the outside Finally on sunday Zach got the timing belt kit fitted and then the water pump decided to wee all over the floor, at 9pm sunday night i cried, swore and then was taken home by Zachs dad. MYA is still at Zachs as the whole timing belt job is being redone - finger crossed it ready for me to collect on saturday as MOT is wednesday Big thanks to Alex, Zach, Matt and anyone else who helped Alex your apple juice is in MYA as you forgot to take it home the smokey old bus that sounds like a tractor...

I was so pissed off when it was all back together and THEN decided to piss itself. Think the problem lies with the water pump gasket, I noticed when fitting that it didn't have a hole for the locator stud so I think therein lies the problem.
I went over last night to strip the belt back off and get everything ready for the new gasket that piggy kindly sent me. Massive pita still having the bloody thing in my workshop, but better for me to sort it then give it back to Chris 100%. Thanks very much for those who popped over on the weekend, definitely got too distracted by talking as what took me most of Saturday I did in an hour by myself last night haha

When do I stop paying out money on a 17 year old car because she may or may not pass the MOT afterwards
I think she would have been fine but the Lucas pump that is fitted is fecked, I have a broken Bosch as well so she needs more money spent that I cannot justify MYA is not that bad but I don't have the time, money, space or the patience to continue Anyone interested in buying MYA whole or shall I break? She's 125k with FSH My mums just given me 2k to get something newer the smokey old bus that sounds like a tractor...

The pump is completely f*cked basically. About 2 hours spent trying to get it running right but it's just not having it.
Requires new pump and injectors for sure, plus whatever else to get it through an mot plus tax etc which has all ran out I believe? Spoken with Chris quite extensively about it and this is probably the best option financially before spending another X amount of money on it simply to get through mot Shame after the work put in, but classic case of quit while your ahead

Hit the nail completely on the head Zach Tax is on the kitchen table so that will be cashed in as I just bought it . MOT expires on the 25/04/14 Annoying due to the time and effort of late but sometimes you have to walk away and my mum has made that decision easier by funding my new car. I don't want to see MYA go as she has been one of the funnest and most reliable car I've owned but... Thanks for the offer of the pump mate but I need a newer safer car for my family, I've been toying with idea of getting rid for a while but this has played my hand earlier than expected. She needs trailering away dan and I don't know how much she's worth as I've just spent lots of money on her and the parts are brand spanking new She has a host of spares to come with her the smokey old bus that sounds like a tractor...

That's a shame, but you were talking to me about the idea of getting rid over a year ago so I'm not surprised at all.
On to better & brighter things! You best be sticking around the forum though no matter what you end up with..!

Get an uber tidy hdi estate like zakks well worth the money and they hold the value! Probably have a really really nice one with plenty of change for a remap etc on your budget

Rust issues aside, bugger loads easier to work on and to have a play with. Parts are cheaper too. Even in the scrap yard you don't pay the VW tax. But it's now a case of better the devil you know and I've replaced most of what goes wrong (the worst designed suspension ever, which also tried to kill me by sheering off). |
