The VIN is correct on the V5C and matches both rear/front screen etchings and the tag under the bonnet. I tried it on the Peugeot website and it rejected it. Speaking to Peugeot today, who definitely keyed it correct, having also escalated to their manager, said it's perhaps because the systems typically only go back 15 years they thought. So they have no idea how to find out any details about the car. So as things stand there is nothing that states my car is a GTi other than the first bit of the VIN I believe is correct for a GTi!
In short I wanted something official to state it is a GTi and ideally find out where it was first sold (as it's imported from somewhere, but I don't know where). If anyone can help, I'll have to owe then a drink or something small for their car
