clutch cable routing
#4
Hmm. The bottom mount is in need of replacement, but it's there and not compressed in any strange way indicating the engine being at an angle or anything and the other mounts are OK. Where the cable leaves the bulkhead is directly adjacent to the where the big pipe from the intercooler goes onto the turbo, and since the cable exits the bulkhead pretty straight, it then needs to make an almost 90 degree bend downwards towards the adjuster on the subframe. I can't see any other way it can go, or for that matter how you can avoid it being close to the turbo - the cable as a whole is fairly stiff so makes an arc as it changes direction, thus passes close by the turbo. There is only about a finger width gap between cable and turbo pipe.

The only way I could imagine it having a big clearance would be if the grommet and cover were not pulled into the hole in the bulkhead, I spent a fair bit of time getting it to go in that hole, and I can feel that it is in correctly.

Are you saying that in your experience the cable passes nowhere near the turbo? I can't see how that's possible as the bulkhead exit of the cable is right opposite the turbo ?

Thanks
Craig
