Wouldn't a stiff spring make the initial hit very stiff and then the after bounces be dependant on the damper?
Thing is im running out of the bolt on options, cams been done, dowels , exhaust, sports cat, remap. Reading up it seems the VVC head design was not too bad but the casting quality is what really lets it down, especially with the water ways being smaller than designed.
The valves are also smaller than gti6 ones, not to say bigger is better but if i cant get the air in then thats going to limit me. Would be nice to have the head cleaned and refreshed up if nothing else especially since it's a 143 head rather than the improved 160 version
DVA can do it for 600 (unless he prices have changed) but unsure if he's the best to go for since there's this guy who worked for janspeed/rover back in the day and has some flow figures http://www.sabre-heads.co.uk/1.html
In terms of limiting factor im unsure. I'd be getting the injectors refurbed whilst the head was off so as to ensure id be getting enough fuel & air
